Overview
The TACO Marine T10-3000-9 is a ShadeFin telescopic rod holder mount that turns a standard gunnel rod holder into an adjustable support point for portable boat shade. It extends from 42 inches to 67 inches tall, helping raise ShadeFin over the deck so there is usable standing space below.
This mount is made from clear anodized aluminum and uses a solid aluminum gimbal butt that drops into a standard rod holder. The bottom joint adjusts the upward angle to 0°, 15°, or 30° with a Sure-Grip knob and pull pin lock, while the throw latch controls height and 360° horizontal rotation.
It is a practical add-on for boats that need shade at the dock, at the sandbar, while fishing, or when people are in the water alongside the boat. A fixed or adjustable ShadeFin rod holder mount is required at the top and is sold separately.
Key features
- Fits standard gunnel rod holders, so no permanent deck hardware is needed for normal use.
- Telescopes from 42 inches to 67 inches tall to lift ShadeFin above the deck.
- Bottom joint adjusts to 0°, 15°, or 30° using a Sure-Grip knob and pull pin lock.
- Throw latch allows height adjustment and 360° horizontal rotation for positioning shade over the deck or over the side of the boat.
- Clear anodized aluminum construction helps keep the mount light while standing up to regular marine use.
- Solid aluminum gimbal butt seats into the rod holder for a stable base.
- Internal Delrin bearings support smooth adjustment during setup.
- Sold each and backed by a 1-year limited warranty.
Installation and setup
Installation is straightforward for boats with a standard gunnel rod holder. Insert the solid gimbal butt into the rod holder, remove the pull pin, set the lower joint angle to 0°, 15°, or 30°, tighten the Sure-Grip knob, and reinstall the pull pin.
The ShadeFin rod holder mount then fits into the top opening. Once the gimbal butt seats into the accessory gimbal pin, the ShadeFin can be attached and deployed. The throw latch is used after setup to fine tune the height and rotate the shade into position.
Compatibility and fit
This mount is intended for use with the TACO Marine ShadeFin system and a standard gunnel rod holder. It is a good match for center consoles, bay boats, cruisers, and other vessels where rod holders are already available and temporary shade is preferred over a fixed frame.
Because it relies on an existing rod holder, fit should be checked against the rod holder location, angle, and surrounding clearance on the boat. The mount also needs the separate fixed or adjustable ShadeFin rod holder mount at the top to complete the setup.
Materials and care
The clear anodized aluminum tube, solid aluminum gimbal butt, and Delrin bearing components make the unit suitable for repeated handling in a marine environment. After use around saltwater, rinse the mount with fresh water, dry it before storage, and check the latch, pull pin, and knob before the next setup.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
