Overview

The Simrad 000-13783-001 is a thru-hull sonar transducer with a stainless steel body that runs at 50/200 kHz and outputs 1 kW RMS, reading depth and temperature from one sensor. It connects with a 9-pin xSonic plug on a 10 m cable and uses a fairing-block mount to keep the transducer face aligned with the water flow.

This transducer gives you two working frequencies: 50 kHz with a 19-degree beam for deeper water, and 200 kHz with a tighter 6-degree beam for clearer target separation and bottom detail. It is built to keep echosounder performance steady across a wide speed range, from 1 knot to 45 knots, and it remains accurate at speeds over 30 knots when installed in clean water.

For planning the install, the transducer body measures 114 x 216 x 244 mm and weighs 7.3 kg (without the fairing block). It is commonly used for deep water bottom and structure fishing up to 500 m (1640 ft), depending on sea conditions, hull noise, and sounder setup.

Installation and setup

This is a below-the-waterline thru-hull install, so placement matters. The fairing block is there to match hull angle and keep the transducer face presented correctly to the water flow, which is especially important on planing hulls where aerated water can break bottom lock.

Route the 10 m cable to the sounder or display with a gentle path and solid strain relief. Keeping the transducer cable separated from ignition wiring and high-current power runs helps reduce noise that can show up on the sounder.

Compatibility and fit

The plug is a 9-pin xSonic style, so it matches sonar inputs that accept a 9-pin transducer connector. Systems that use a 7-pin transducer port will require an adapter cable.

Because the body is stainless steel and the transducer is in direct contact with seawater, confirm that your hull construction and bonding practices are appropriate for a stainless thru-hull fitting, and leave clear access inside the boat for tightening and periodic inspection.

Use on board

This is a practical choice for fast sportfishing and light commercial boats that want consistent bottom tracking while running. The 50 kHz channel is useful when you are working deeper water, while 200 kHz helps when you are picking apart structure and bottom detail with a tighter beam.

Maintenance and care

During haul-outs, keep the transducer face clean and check the fairing block for any movement or damage. A clean face and a secure mount make it much easier for the sounder to hold bottom as speed comes up.
