Overview
The TACO Marine H25-0023R is an 18-1/2 inch Command Ratchet Hinge pair for adding controlled backrest movement to sun pads, bolsters, lounge seats, and similar above-deck seating on a boat. This extended hinge size suits longer seating sections where a short hinge would not give the support or spread needed across the cushion and backrest structure.
The pair mounts above the deck and has one locking position at 61.5 degrees. It is rated for use with seat backs up to 22 inches long and cushions up to 4 inches thick, with single or double-seat layouts depending on the seat build and support structure.
Construction uses polished stainless steel with brass bearings, giving the hinge hardware the corrosion resistance and smooth movement needed around spray, washdowns, sun exposure, and normal vibration on board. The pair meets ABYC H-31 Class B application requirements and has been tested to 500 ft-lb of torque per pair.

Installation and fit
This hinge is made for above-deck installation, so layout and backing support matter. Before drilling, confirm that the seat base, cushion thickness, backrest length, and hinge swing path match the seating design. The hardware is countersunk for #10 fasteners or 1/4-20 bolts, giving the installer flexibility based on the deck or seat frame construction.
For best long-term results, fasteners should be matched to the boat structure and the surrounding materials. Backing plates, bedding compound, and proper sealing may be needed depending on whether the hinge is being mounted to fiberglass, a molded seat base, or another marine seating substrate.
Use cases on board
This hinge pair is a practical match for builders and owners updating cockpit lounges, convertible sun pads, bolster backs, and aft-facing seating where the backrest needs to lock into a repeatable reclined position. It is especially useful on seating layouts that see regular boarding traffic, wet swim platform use, fishing activity, or dockside lounging.
The extended 18-1/2 inch length helps spread the load across larger seating sections, while the polished finish keeps the hardware suitable for visible cockpit and deck installations.
