Overview

The Victron Energy Multi RS Solar 48/6000 is a 48V hybrid inverter/charger with integrated high-voltage MPPT solar charging for 230V AC systems. It combines inverter output, AC battery charging, and solar charging in one unit, which is useful on larger cruising boats, off-grid marine installations, and refits built around a 48V house battery bank.

The current 48/6000/100-450/100 version uses two independent 450V MPPT trackers with up to 6000W total solar charging, split as 3000W per tracker. The unit supports a 38 to 62V DC input range, 230V AC output, a 50A transfer switch, and a maximum combined charger current of 100A from AC and PV sources.

This is a technical power system component for protected installation spaces, not an exposed cockpit or deck-mounted device. The IP21 steel enclosure, MC4 PV inputs, VE.Can communication, Bluetooth, and VictronConnect setup make it a strong fit for boats where solar, shore power, generator input, and battery storage need to work together in one Victron-based system.

Key features
  • Combines a 48V inverter/charger with MPPT solar charging for 230V AC systems.
  • Dual-tracker version supports two independent 450V MPPT tracker inputs with up to 6000W total PV charging.
  • Pure sine wave inverter output with 6000VA class rating and peak power support for short surge loads.
  • 50A transfer switch and pass-through capability for shore power or generator-fed systems.
  • PowerControl and PowerAssist help manage limited AC input from a dock supply or generator.
  • Built-in display, Bluetooth, VictronConnect setup, and VE.Can communication for integration with a GX device such as a Cerbo GX.
  • AC-out-1 and AC-out-2 outputs allow critical and non-critical AC loads to be separated in the installation plan.
  • IP21 steel enclosure measures 462 x 425 x 127 mm and weighs 12.3 kg, so it belongs in a dry, protected electrical space with airflow.
Variants

This Multi RS Solar range is offered in more than one configuration, with the main difference being the MPPT tracker layout and the rating shown in the model code.

Both configurations are part of the 48/6000 Multi RS Solar platform for 48V battery systems and 230V AC output. The dual-tracker model separates solar input across two tracker channels, while the single-tracker version is an older model and should be checked carefully when matching an existing installation.

  • 48/6000/100-450/100: rating 48/6000/100-450/100 with dual-tracker MPPT. This version is practical when PV panels are split across different roof, hardtop, arch, or cabin-top areas with different sun exposure.
  • 48/6000/100-450/80: rating 48/6000/100-450/80 with single-tracker MPPT, older model. This version is mainly relevant for replacement work or system matching where the boat already has the older single-tracker layout.
Installation and setup

On board, this unit should be installed in a dry technical locker, machinery-adjacent electrical space, or protected power cabinet with enough ventilation around the enclosure. It should not be placed where it can be hit by rain, washdowns, bilge moisture, or salt spray. Engine room installation should be reviewed carefully for heat, airflow, vibration, and splash protection.

The PV input uses MC4 connections, the battery connection uses M8 bolts, and the 230V AC wiring uses screw terminals up to 10 mm². A marine electrician should size cables, overcurrent protection, isolation, and earthing for the vessel, battery bank, PV string voltage, and applicable onboard standards.

Electrical and system integration

The Multi RS Solar works with 48V battery banks and can charge from solar through the built-in MPPT, from a compatible AC input, or from an AC PV inverter connected into the wider system. For lithium installations, BMS integration must be planned correctly, especially when using a GX device and BMS-Can batteries.

Communication options include VE.Can, VE.Direct, Bluetooth, and VictronConnect. For a boat already using Victron monitoring, adding a GX device brings the inverter/charger, solar charging, battery data, and remote monitoring into the same ecosystem.

Use cases on board

This unit makes sense for vessels with a 48V house bank, meaningful AC loads, and enough solar area to justify high-voltage PV input. Typical applications include cruising sailboats, passagemaking powerboats, liveaboard systems, and off-grid dockside setups where solar charging and shore or generator input need to share the same energy system.

For smaller boats with only light DC loads, this may be more system than the installation needs. For larger boats moving toward a 48V architecture, it can simplify the power layout by combining several major charging and inverter functions into one coordinated device.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
