Overview

The Garmin 010-12224-03 is a fairing block used when installing a GT56-TH (GT56 series) thru-hull scanning transducer so the transducer face sits parallel to the waterline. It is intended for mounting spots where the deadrise angle exceeds 5 degrees, helping correct the hull angle at the transducer location.

On a V-hull, a thru-hull transducer mounted directly to the angled surface can sit canted in the water. This fairing block lets you bring the transducer into proper alignment while keeping the installation clean and flush to the hull shape.

Key features
  • Made for Garmin GT56 series thru-hull scanning transducer installations (GT56-TH applications)
  • Corrects mounting angle to keep the transducer parallel to the waterline
  • Recommended when the deadrise at the mounting location is greater than 5 degrees
  • Supports more consistent sonar results by keeping the transducer properly aligned in the water
Compatibility and fit

This is a fairing block accessory for GT56-TH style thru-hull installs, not a transom or trolling motor mount. Confirm your transducer is a GT56 series thru-hull scanning model and measure the deadrise at the exact mounting point; once that angle is over 5 degrees, a fairing block is typically required to keep the transducer level.

Installation and setup

Fairing blocks are normally shaped to match the hull contour and then drilled as part of the thru-hull installation so the transducer can be mounted straight while the outside face remains aligned to the waterline. Plan for access to the inside of the hull for tightening and sealing the thru-hull hardware, and bed the installation correctly for a watertight seal in a wet, vibrating environment.

Use on board

This setup is a practical match for deeper-V boats and other hulls where the transducer location has noticeable deadrise, including coastal and offshore fishing rigs that rely on clear scanning views. It is also useful on cruisers where the preferred mounting pocket is angled but you still want the transducer to sit level in the water.

Maintenance and care

During haul-outs, check the fairing area for impact marks, marine growth buildup, and any signs of sealant movement around the thru-hull. Keeping the transducer area clean and inspecting the installation periodically helps maintain consistent readings and long-term watertight integrity.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
