Overview
The Simrad 000-12188-001 is a dedicated radar control unit with an integrated 16-inch widescreen display (1366 x 768) and a keypad plus rotary dial, built for running a compatible Simrad radar on its own screen at the helm. It runs on 12 to 24 V DC and draws about 20 W, which fits typical 12V and 24V onboard electrical systems.
This unit connects to supported radar scanners over Ethernet and adds extra system hooks for sensors and data sharing with 4 NMEA 0183 ports and NMEA 2000 connectivity. An HDMI output mirrors the built-in screen to a second display when you need radar in more than one place.
For real-world helm use, the rear connectors are watertight and the housing is rated IPX6, so it can live in an open console where spray and washdowns are part of the routine.

Installation and fit
The front footprint is 455.5 mm wide by 260.1 mm high, with an 82.3 mm body depth, and the unit weighs about 4 kg (8.8 lb). Those numbers matter when you are checking dash clearance, door swing, and how much space you have behind the panel for cabling and drip loops.
You can flush-mount it for a clean glass-bridge look, or use the bracket kit when you need more flexibility on a smaller helm or a second station. Plan cable routing so the Ethernet run to the radar scanner stays protected from chafe and is not forced into tight bends.
Networking and system integration
Ethernet handles the radar connection, while NMEA 2000 and the four NMEA 0183 ports give you options for bringing in heading, speed, AIS, and GPS data that can improve situational awareness on the radar screen. If you are tying it into an existing network, confirm you have the right NMEA 2000 backbone power and a spare drop where the unit will be mounted.
The HDMI port outputs a mirrored view of the built-in display, which is useful for adding a second radar screen at another helm or inside the cabin. With an optional wired remote, that mirrored station can be made interactive.
Use on board
This is a good fit for helms where you want radar available at all times without giving up chart space on your main MFD. It also makes sense on dual-station boats that need radar in two locations, or on sportfishing setups where radar gets used constantly for bird finding and tracking weather cells while running offshore.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt spray off the exterior with fresh water when practical, then wipe with a soft cloth. Use the supplied suncover when the boat is not in use to reduce UV exposure on the screen and keep the face clean at the dock.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
