Overview

The Raymarine T70433 is a wireless first station kit for adding remote VHF control to a Ray90 or Ray91 modular VHF radio system. It gives the helm, flybridge, cockpit, or another working area on board a wireless handset station without needing to route a full wired handset cable back through the boat.

The kit is built around a wireless handset, wireless hub, and active wireless speaker. The hub connects to the VHF base station through the hub connection, while the handset and speaker communicate over 2.4 GHz wireless links. The main wireless components are rated IPx6 and IPx7, which matters for exposed helm stations, wet cockpits, and boats that see regular washdowns.

This is an expansion kit, not a complete VHF radio by itself. It is a good match for owners who already have a compatible Raymarine black-box VHF installation and want a practical second control point for calling, monitoring traffic, and keeping communication close at hand while moving around the vessel.

Key features
  • Adds a wireless handset station to compatible Raymarine Ray90 and Ray91 VHF systems.
  • Wireless hub connects to the VHF base station through a 12-pin hub connector.
  • Handset communicates with the hub over 2.4 GHz wireless for flexible placement on board.
  • Active wireless speaker pairs with the handset over 2.4 GHz, helping calls stay audible in open or noisy areas.
  • IPx6 and IPx7 waterproofing supports installation in exposed marine spaces where spray and washdowns are common.
  • Wireless handset uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time.
  • Oversized handset keys and a backlit LCD help with operation at night, in glare, or when the boat is moving.
  • Active speaker operates from 10.2 V dc to 16 V dc and has a 5 W maximum speaker output at 8 ohms.
Compatibility and fit

This kit is intended for Raymarine Ray90 and Ray91 modular VHF radio installations. The base radio remains the heart of the system, while this kit adds a wireless control point with its own handset and active speaker. Before ordering, confirm that the vessel already has a compatible Raymarine VHF base station and that the hub connection is available for the wireless hub.

The wireless components suit boats where a wired second station would be difficult to route cleanly, such as flybridge cruisers, center consoles, pilothouse boats, and sailboats with separate cockpit and nav-station communication needs. It is also useful when the operator may move between the helm, deck, and cockpit but still wants VHF access nearby.

Installation and setup

The wireless hub connects to the base station, then the handset is paired to the hub. The active speaker can be paired to the wireless handset so received audio is not limited to the handset speaker alone. For the active speaker, plan for a 12 V dc supply within the 10.2 V dc to 16 V dc operating range, with a 2 A inline fuse or 2 A thermal breaker.

For best results, mount the hub where it has a clear path for wireless communication and is protected from unnecessary obstruction by metal structures or heavy equipment. The handset and speaker locations should be chosen around real use on board, such as where the crew stands watch, docks, handles lines, or monitors traffic in poor visibility.

On-board use

Once installed, the wireless station helps keep VHF functions accessible away from the main black-box radio location. That can make a real difference during docking, offshore runs, fishing days, or cruising with crew moving between stations. The active speaker is especially useful in areas with wind, engine noise, or open cockpit sound levels.

The Ray90 and Ray91 systems support key VHF functions such as DSC operation, channel monitoring, and integration with the broader Raymarine communication setup. This kit simply puts that control and audio in a more convenient place on the boat.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
