Reliable Hydraulic Steering for Marine Autopilots
The Octopus Autopilot Drives 38mm Bore Linear Drive is a high-performance hydraulic actuator designed for marine vessels with mechanical steering systems. This advanced unit integrates a reversing pump and a hydraulic cylinder, delivering smooth and precise rudder control when connected to an autopilot system. Engineered for durability and ease of maintenance, this linear drive ensures reliable steering assistance while maintaining seamless manual operation when not engaged. Ideal for boats up to 60 feet in length, it provides robust thrust and torque to handle various marine conditions.
Efficient and Durable Hydraulic Performance
This hydraulic linear actuator is built with only five moving parts, ensuring exceptional reliability and minimal maintenance compared to gear and screw-driven alternatives. When engaged, the actuator’s solenoid valve locks the cylinder, allowing the autopilot to control rudder movement via an integrated DC motor and pump system. Once deactivated, the solenoid releases, allowing free rudder movement without additional resistance. The translucent oil reservoir provides a clear view of fluid levels for easy maintenance, and the unit is factory-filled with oil, eliminating the need for extra plumbing.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
