Overview
The Jabsco Ballast King 22610-Series is a 12V DC flexible impeller ballast pump for filling and emptying wakeboard and ski boat ballast tanks. It moves water at 15 GPM, or 57 LPM, and can add about 125 lb of ballast water per minute, giving the system enough flow for fast ballast changes before riding or when trimming the boat between sets.
This reversible pump handles both fill and drain duty through the same pump body, which helps simplify ballast plumbing. It is self-priming up to 4 ft from dry, uses a dry-run impeller, and is ignition protected to ISO 8846 Marine standards for installation in suitable boat compartments.
Key features
- 15 GPM flow rate helps fill and empty ballast tanks quickly on wakeboard and ski boats.
- Reversible operation lets the same pump move water into the tank and back out when the switch or control circuit reverses polarity.
- Self-priming up to 4 ft from dry supports common ballast layouts where the pump sits above the water pickup or tank connection.
- Dry-run impeller adds protection during brief dry periods that can happen at the start or end of a ballast cycle.
- 12V DC motor matches the electrical systems used on most towboats and small recreational vessels.
- Ignition protected to ISO 8846 Marine standards for safer use in approved marine installation areas.
- Bronze pump construction suits the wet, vibration-prone environment found around ballast plumbing.
Variants
The Ballast King 22610-Series is offered in multiple configurations so the pump can match different wiring and control setups on board.
The main differences are the presence of a reversing switch and, on one version, the Deutsch connector configuration. The pump family keeps the same Ballast King role as a 12V reversible ballast pump across these configurations.
- 22610-9007: Reversing switch not included. This version suits installations where the boat already has a ballast switch, relay, or control module that will handle polarity reversal.
- 22610-9507: Reversing switch included. This configuration is useful for a more direct fill and empty control point when a separate reversing switch is needed in the installation.
- 22610-9427: Deutsch connector, no reversing switch. The Deutsch connector helps with a cleaner plug-in electrical connection where the vessel wiring is set up for that connector style.
Installation and setup
Plan the installation around short, direct plumbing runs where practical, with the pump mounted in a dry, accessible area for service. Because this is a flexible impeller pump, it should be installed so the impeller can be inspected and replaced without removing major boat panels or disturbing the ballast plumbing.
Use appropriately sized marine wiring, circuit protection, and polarity-reversing controls for the specific configuration being installed. The versions without a reversing switch require the boat side of the system to provide the switching method needed to run the pump in both fill and drain directions.
Use on board
This pump is a strong match for wake and ski boats where ballast timing matters and the owner wants one pump that can both load and drain ballast tanks. The 15 GPM flow rate is helpful when riders change frequently or when the crew adjusts ballast to tune the boat between wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and cruising.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
