Overview
The Attwood Marine 66553-3 is a stainless steel scupper valve with a barbed outlet for 1-1/2 inch I.D. hose. It is used on self-bailing cockpit drains and installs in a 2 inch hole, with a standard thread length that fits hull or transom thickness up to 3 inches. The overall length is 5-1/2 inches.
The body is cast in enhanced 316 stainless steel with a polished finish and passivation for added corrosion resistance. A neoprene flap with a molded V opens to drain cockpit water and closes to help limit backwash, which is useful on boats that take spray at rest or while backing down.
Key features
- Fits 1-1/2 inch I.D. cockpit drain hose
- Uses a 2 inch installation hole and fits hull or transom thickness up to 3 inches
- Enhanced 316 stainless steel body with a polished, passivated finish
- Neoprene scupper flap with molded V helps reduce water washing back into the cockpit
- Barbed tail leaves room for secure hose clamping at the drain connection
- Wrench fitting and sealant groove under the flange help make installation more controlled from inside the hull
Installation and fit
This fitting is for above-waterline use. On a self-bailing cockpit it mounts in the transom or hull, with the outlet set at least 12 inches above the maximum water line. The hose run should fall from the cockpit drain to the scupper so water can move out of the deck drain without pooling in the line.
For replacement work, check three points before ordering: 1-1/2 inch I.D. hose, a 2 inch cutout or hole saw size, and enough depth for the 3-1/2 inch thread section and 5-1/2 inch overall length. The barbed tail and inside-hull tightening nut make it a practical fit where access is available from inside the transom.
Use on board
This scupper valve suits center consoles, bay boats, walkarounds, and other boats with self-bailing decks that use a 1-1/2 inch drain hose at the cockpit outlet. It also makes sense for refit work where the existing drain layout already matches the hose size, cutout, and above-waterline mounting position.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
