Overview

The Attwood Marine 5253-4 is a Tsunami Mk2 T500 aerator kit for built-in livewells that do not have a thru-hull recirculation system. It recirculates livewell water through a separate spray head, which helps keep water moving and oxygen-rich when the boat cannot rely on a thru-hull connection.

This kit is built around a T500 pump rated at 500 gallons per hour, uses a 3/4 in. (19 mm) hose path, and calls for a 3A fuse. The pump body can handle occasional submersion, but the electrical wires must stay out of the water.

It fits well on fishing boats that already have a freshwater fill system and need a self-contained recirculation loop. It also works as a backup pump in a fail-safe livewell setup, which is useful when keeping bait or a catch stable during long runs or while drifting away from a clean water pickup.

Key features
  • 500 GPH T500 pump for livewell recirculation
  • Separate aerator spray head keeps water moving inside the tank
  • Built for livewells without a thru-hull recirculation system
  • 3/4 in. (19 mm) outlet hose size for common livewell plumbing layouts
  • Sealed pump body can be occasionally submerged, while wiring stays dry above the waterline
  • Useful as an added recirculation loop or as a backup pump in a fail-safe system
Installation and fit

The plumbing side is straightforward, with a straight thread-to-barb connector, 3/4 in. poly hose, and hose clamps included in the kit. The supplied hose length is 23 in., so it suits compact runs around a livewell or bait tank where the pump and spray head are mounted fairly close together.

The stainless steel strainer helps keep debris out of the pump, which matters in tanks that see scales, grass, or bait residue. For a clean installation, mount the pump where the body may see splashes or occasional submersion, but keep wire connections in a dry location above the water level.

Use on board

This kit makes sense for anglers running a built-in livewell on boats that already have a freshwater fill system but need recirculation when underway or when the thru-hull feed is not in use. It is also a practical match for owners updating an older livewell system without reworking the whole tank setup.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
