Compatibility and fit
This dimmer is for 230V AC circuits only and is intended for resistive incandescent lamps within the 100-500W load window. It is not the right match for low-voltage 12V or 24V DC lighting circuits, and it should not be assumed to work with LED loads unless the lamp system itself is specified for this style of dimming.
IP40 protection points to indoor mounting locations away from spray, washdowns, and open weather. On a boat, that usually means accommodation spaces or other enclosed areas rather than cockpit surfaces, exterior bulkheads, or any position that sees direct moisture.
