Overview

The Garmin 010-01960-00 is a transom or trolling-motor mount transducer that gives you traditional sonar plus DownVü scanning and a built-in temperature sensor in one 4-pin package. It is rated at 500 W, runs traditional sonar at 77/200 kHz, and supports DownVü CHIRP in the 455/800 kHz range.

The attached 20 ft cable plugs directly into a compatible 4-pin sonar port, so there is no separate module to mount. Listed depth capability is up to 1,900 ft on traditional sonar and up to 750 ft on DownVü, and the mounting bracket supports transom angles from 0 to 70 degrees.

Key features
  • 500 W transducer with traditional 77/200 kHz and DownVü CHIRP 455/800 kHz sonar in a single housing
  • Listed depth capability up to 1,900 ft (traditional) and up to 750 ft (DownVü)
  • 20 ft cable with a 4-pin connector and a fast-response temperature sensor for live temp readout
  • Mounts on the transom or a trolling motor, with bracket geometry that accommodates 0 to 70 degree transom angles
  • Pivoting mount setup can be adjusted to let the transducer swing up if it contacts an obstruction
  • Routing the cable away from ignition leads and high-current wiring helps reduce interference on the sonar screen

Installation and setup

For a clean bottom return at speed, placement matters more than anything. Mount the transducer parallel to the waterline in an area that stays in smooth water flow, and keep it clear of strakes, intakes, steps, and other features that introduce bubbles. On outboard and sterndrive boats, leave at least 38 cm (15 in.) of clearance from the propeller, and choose a spot where the transducer will not get hit during launching, loading, or trailering.

If you route the cable through the transom, a 16 mm (5/8 in.) pass-through is used for the 4-pin connector, and the entry should be well above the waterline and sealed properly. Do not cut the transducer cable. After installation, water-test at low speed and then gradually increase speed; if bottom lock drops out, small height and angle tweaks on the bracket usually fix it before you consider moving the transducer.

Compatibility and fit

This transducer is meant for transom or trolling-motor mounting and connects through a 4-pin transducer plug. Confirm your Garmin sonar unit has the matching 4-pin transducer connection and supports traditional sonar and DownVü scanning. If you are shopping for an in-hull or thru-hull installation, this mounting style is not the right fit.

Use on board

This is a good match for small to mid-size fishing boats, skiffs, and nearshore rigs where you want clear bottom detail and fish marks directly under the boat, with the option to mount on a trolling motor for bow fishing. It also works well for shallow-water work where scanning sonar helps separate bait, fish, and structure when you are moving slowly or holding on a spot.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the transducer after saltwater use and keep the face free of marine growth for consistent returns. For boats that stay in the water for long periods, a water-based antifouling paint can be used on the transducer and mounting hardware. Avoid acetone and acetone-based cleaners on the housing, and inspect the cable routing regularly so it is not chafing or pulled tight through the transom.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
