Overview
The Garmin 010-01759-00 is a wired VHF handset that mirrors the controls of a compatible Garmin fixed-mount VHF radio so you can operate it from another spot on the boat. It makes sense when the main radio is mounted below or inside, but you still want full access at a second helm, flybridge, or nav station.
On the handset you get soft keys and a 2-inch diagonal dot-matrix display with backlight, plus a rotary/push knob for volume, squelch, and channel selection. A dedicated 16/9 or 16+ channel button puts priority channels within reach. The coiled handset lead stretches from about 1 ft to nearly 5 ft, and the supplied 10 m (32 ft) deck cable carries the connection back to the radio.
For real-world boat use it is IPX7 rated (up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes) and it stays comfortable to use in a wide range of conditions with an operating temperature range of 5°F to 131°F (-15°C to 55°C). The handset measures 2.7 x 6.1 x 1.6 inches (6.9 x 15.4 x 4.0 cm) and should be installed at least 70 cm (27.5 inches) from a magnetic compass to help avoid interference.

- Rotary/push knob for volume, squelch, and channel selection, plus a dedicated 16/9 or 16+ channel button
- Built-in speaker mic with intercom capability when connected to a speaker
- Coiled handset lead stretches from about 1 ft to nearly 5 ft for use at the helm without loose slack
- IPX7 water rating for spray and brief immersion (up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes)
- Includes a 10 m (32 ft) deck cable; total extension length up to 30 m (96 ft) with additional 10 m cables
- Compass-safe distance of 70 cm (27.5 in.) to reduce magnetic interference risk
- Menu languages: English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish
Installation and setup
The deck cable passes through the mounting surface and terminates at the handset connector, with the handset cradle mounted nearby for storage. Plan on a 22 mm (7/8 in.) hole for the cable pass-through, and use marine sealant around the cutout if you want extra help keeping water out of the panel.
Route the 10 m deck cable back to the radio and connect it to the microphone relocation port or a STATION port, depending on the radio model. If you need more reach, additional 10 m cables can be added in series, up to a maximum total extension length of 30 m (96 ft.) between the handset and the radio.
Compatibility and fit
This handset is meant for Garmin fixed-mount VHF radios that support a wired second-station handset connection. Before ordering, confirm your radio has the appropriate port available and that the planned mounting location can accommodate the cable routing from the radio to the handset connector.
Keep the handset and connector location in mind if you run a magnetic compass at the helm. Maintaining the 70 cm (27.5 in.) compass-safe distance helps avoid heading deviation from the handset’s magnetic field.
On-board use
This setup is a good match for boats with dual helms, a flybridge, or a sheltered radio mounted in the cabin where you still want access from the working position on deck. It also fits boats where crew communication matters, since the handset can support intercom use when tied into a speaker.

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
