Overview
The Vimar 3 Modules Surface Mounting Box is a 3-module surface box for bringing Vimar controls or outlets onto a finished wall or ceiling when there is no recess for flush mounting. It measures 80 x 124 mm with a 40 mm depth, and it works with the relevant Vimar 8000, Linea, and 7000 mounting frames, cover plates, or self-bearing cover plates.
For onboard electrical work, this box makes sense in interior locations where surface mounting is the practical choice, such as cabins, enclosed helm areas, galleys, and protected service spaces. It has four inlets, accepts 20/25 mm conduit, carries a rated insulation voltage of 450 V, and is IP20, so it belongs in dry or sheltered mounting points rather than exposed deck or washdown areas.
Key features
- 3-module surface mounting box for the relevant Vimar 8000, Linea, and 7000 ranges
- 80 x 124 mm footprint with 40 mm depth for surface installs where flush depth is not available
- Four inlets with rear cable entry and 20/25 mm conduit compatibility
- Plastic housing with a rectangular body for wall or ceiling mounting
- IP20 protection for protected interior spaces on board
- Rated insulation voltage of 450 V and working temperature range from 0 to 60 C
Variants
This box is offered in two color versions for matching different Vimar trim finishes on board.
Across both versions, the 3-module format, 40 mm depth, 80 x 124 mm size, four inlets, wall or ceiling mounting, 20/25 mm conduit entry, and compatibility with the relevant Vimar 8000, Linea, and 7000 frames and cover plates remain the same. The change between variants is the housing color.
- VM09973: Color White. This version suits installations where the surrounding switches, sockets, or faceplates are finished in white.
- VM09973.A: Color Ivory. This version keeps the look consistent with ivory trim and older interior electrical layouts that use that tone.
Compatibility and fit
This surface box is meant for installations that use the matching Vimar support frames and plates from the listed ranges. On retrofit work, checking the exact insert and frame combination is still important before ordering, especially when an existing panel already mixes components from different Vimar families.
The 80 x 124 x 40 mm body is straightforward to place on flat bulkheads, liners, and console faces where a flush box is not possible. It is still a surface-mounted enclosure, so cable bend space and final projection from the mounting surface should be checked before drilling.
Installation and onboard use
It is intended for wall or ceiling mounting on non-perforated insulating surfaces or on metallic surfaces with earth connection. The inlet layout and rear entry help when the cable run comes through conduit or from the back side of a panel.
This is a good match for boats that already use Vimar trim in protected interior spaces and need a clean surface mount without changing the rest of the switch or outlet layout. It is less suited to open cockpit positions, exterior lockers, or any location that sees direct spray.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
