Overview
The Vimar Plana Series is a flush-mounted 230V dimmer range for 100-500W incandescent lamps, with push-push 2-way switching and rotary adjustment. It is suited to interior lighting circuits on boats where a 230V AC system is already in place, such as a cabin, saloon, or other protected living area.
This is an IP40 device with a compact body measuring 22.3 x 49 x 62.2 mm, so it belongs in dry, protected locations rather than exposed deck or washdown areas. The control is easy to find in low light thanks to its built-in indicator, and the click-in mounting format keeps the installation neat in a flush electrical panel.
Key features
- 230V, 50-60 Hz dimmer for incandescent lamp loads from 100W to 500W
- Push-push 2-way switch with rotary potentiometer for on/off control and light adjustment
- Flush-mounted body with click-in fastening
- IP40 protection for protected indoor spaces
- Visible in the dark thanks to the built-in light indicator
- Works with buttons, but not with movement sensors, presence indicators, timers, transmission buttons, or infrared buttons
- Thermoplastic body with glossy finish
Variants
This product is offered in two finish options.
What changes between the variants is the visible colour and surface treatment. The white version uses untreated glossy thermoplastic, while the silver version uses lacquered glossy thermoplastic. The electrical rating, operating method, IP40 protection, flush mounting, and overall dimensions remain the same across both versions.
- VM14153.SL: Silver finish, lacquered thermoplastic, glossy surface, similar RAL 9006. This version changes the visible trim colour while keeping the same dimming function and mounting format.
- VM14153: White finish, untreated thermoplastic, glossy surface, similar RAL 9003. This version gives a clean neutral look with the same electrical and installation characteristics.
Installation and fit
This dimmer is intended for flush installation in a compatible Plana-series setup. Before ordering, check that the boat uses a 230V AC lighting circuit and that the connected lamps are incandescent and fall within the 100W to 500W load range.
For marine refit work, it makes the most sense in protected accommodation spaces where you want manual light control at the wall plate. It is not the right choice for exposed exterior positions or circuits that rely on sensors or timer-based switching.
Use on board
This range is a good match for boats with residential-style interior switchgear and 230V cabin lighting. It suits owners and installers who want a dimmer that keeps the panel finish tidy and gives straightforward control without adding extra electronics or network integration.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
