Overview
The Garmin 010-12520-00 is a clip-on running dynamics pod that mounts on your waistband and sends running form metrics to a compatible Garmin watch over ANT+. It weighs 12 g and the pod in its clip measures 37.6 x 23.2 x 19.2 mm, so it stays out of the way once it is centered on the back of your waist.
An internal accelerometer tracks torso movement to calculate six running dynamics metrics: cadence, stride length, ground contact time, ground contact time balance, vertical oscillation, and vertical ratio. These numbers help you spot patterns like uneven contact time or extra bounce so you can make small form changes with something measurable behind them.
Rated to 1 ATM and built for everyday training, it works well for runs between dock days and shore time as long as it is treated like electronics: fine with sweat and incidental splashes, not something you leave submerged or clipped on during a swim.
Key features
- Clips to the waistband and broadcasts running dynamics to a compatible Garmin device over ANT+.
- Tracks six running metrics: cadence, stride length, ground contact time, ground contact time balance, vertical oscillation, and vertical ratio.
- Runs without a chest strap for running dynamics, while still letting you pair a heart-rate sensor separately if you use one.
- User-replaceable CR1632 battery with up to 1 year of use based on 1 hour per day.
- Automatic on and off behavior to reduce battery drain between sessions.
- 1 ATM water rating for sweat and incidental splashes.
- Operating temperature range of -10 to 50 C for outdoor training in most conditions.
Installation and setup
Pair the pod with your compatible Garmin watch first, then clip it to the back and center of your waistband before you start your run. Position matters because the pod reads torso motion, so keep it stable and centered rather than off to one side or on a loose drawstring.
Compatibility and data
This pod relies on ANT+ and requires a Garmin device that supports Running Dynamics from an external sensor. You will see the metrics on the compatible device during the activity and can review them later when the activity syncs through Garmin Connect.
Use around saltwater
If you run near the marina, rinse off any salt residue from the outside after the session and let it dry before storage. The pod is small enough to live in a gym bag onboard, but it should be kept away from standing water, heavy washdowns, and long periods of direct spray.
Maintenance and battery
Battery service is straightforward with the CR1632 coin cell. If you start seeing dropouts or the pod stops waking up automatically, check the battery first and confirm the clip is holding the pod firmly against the waistband so it is not bouncing or rotating.
Who it suits
This is a good match for runners who want running dynamics without wearing a chest strap and already train with a Garmin watch that supports these metrics. It also works well for boat owners who keep a consistent running routine while traveling, since the pod stays small, runs on a replaceable battery, and does not need charging.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
