Overview
The Vimar VMV71574 is a multifunction accessory that serves as a frame, a centring template, and a coupling joint for 4-module installation boxes in hollow walls.
It is used on the inside of the wall to keep the box opening and the box position consistent, and it helps when multiple boxes are mounted as a horizontal or vertical bank. On board, that usually means clean, straight switch and outlet rows on thin liners, cabin bulkheads, and helm console panels.
Key features
- Made for 4-module (4M) hollow wall box installations
- Acts as a centring template to help lay out the cutout and keep the opening square
- Functions as a frame on the inner side of the wall during mounting
- Coupling joint for aligning boxes in horizontal and vertical bank installations
- Helps keep multi-gang layouts straight so cover plates and modules sit evenly
Compatibility and fit
This accessory is intended for Vimar 4-module boxes for hollow walls. Confirm the module size on your box and faceplate system before ordering, since the 4-module format differs from 2-module, 3-module, and larger multi-module hardware.
It is used with in-wall style installations where the box clamps to a thin panel. Make sure you have adequate clearance behind the liner or bulkhead for the box depth, wiring bend radius, and any conduits or cable chases.
Installation and setup
Dry-fit the accessory on the back side of the panel or liner, mark the cutout using the template function, then cut and deburr before inserting the hollow wall box. When you are installing boxes in a bank, use the coupling feature to keep spacing consistent, then tighten the box clamps evenly so the box stays square in the opening.
On boats, take a quick look behind the mounting surface for hidden wiring, hoses, insulation, and structural members. Leaving room for strain relief helps connections stay stable when the boat is pounding or vibrating.
Electrical and system integration
This is a mechanical installation aid, so it does not change the electrical rating of the devices you mount in the box. Keep DC, AC, and data wiring separated where your build requires it, and label conductors so future troubleshooting does not turn into a panel teardown.
Use cases on board
Common uses include ganging multiple Vimar modules at a helm, creating neat switch rows in the salon or cabin, and adding outlets in a galley or nav station where the wall is a thin liner rather than a solid bulkhead.
It is a good match for refits where you want faceplates to sit flat across a multi-box run and for new builds where consistent alignment speeds up finishing work.
Maintenance and care
Once installed it stays hidden behind the plate and devices. If you remove the faceplate for service, check that the boxes remain tight and square, especially in areas that see frequent vibration.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
