Overview
The Vimar VMV55206 is a surface-mount junction box for protecting electrical connections in wet, dusty areas on board. It carries an IP56 protection rating and measures 150 x 110 x 70 mm, giving you a clean place to land splices, connectors, or small terminal blocks instead of leaving them loose behind panels.
The housing is plastic in RAL 7035 grey with a blind cover held by stainless steel screws, which helps the lid stay tight when the boat is vibrating underway. It is specified for a working temperature range of 0 to 60 C and a rated insulation voltage of 450 V, which suits many common DC and AC junction enclosure needs when the rest of the installation is matched correctly.
Key features
- IP56 protection rating for spray and washdown-exposed mounting locations
- 150 x 110 x 70 mm rectangular enclosure for surface mounting on walls and ceilings
- Blind cover secured with stainless steel screws for a lid that stays put under vibration
- Plastic housing in RAL 7035 grey for a neutral finish that blends into most installs
- Working temperature range: 0 to 60 C
- Rated insulation voltage: 450 V
Installation and setup
This box is meant for surface mounting, so it is commonly screwed to a bulkhead, inside a console, in a locker, or under a hardtop where you can still reach the cover for inspection. Keep cable routes tidy and leave enough slack to open the lid later without pulling on connections.
Maintain the IP56 protection level by sealing every cable entry and avoiding unused openings. Route cables with a drip loop when possible and position entries so water does not track directly into the enclosure.
Compatibility and fit
Before ordering, confirm the available mounting footprint and clearance for the lid and wiring. The 70 mm depth helps when you need room for connectors and bend radius, but tight helm spaces may still require a quick mockup with your wiring bundle.
This junction box is intended for above-water locations where it will see spray, rain, or washdowns. It is not a choice for installations that sit submerged.
Use cases on board
This style of enclosure is commonly used for joining cockpit and deck circuits, organizing wiring transitions under a hardtop, or protecting splices feeding deck lights, pumps, or equipment mounted in lockers. It is a good match for refits where you want serviceable junction points instead of hidden inline splices.
Maintenance and care
Check the lid screws periodically and re-seat the cover after any wiring changes. In saltwater environments, rinse exterior salt buildup during routine washdowns and re-check cable entry sealing if you notice moisture or corrosion near connections.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
