Overview

The Blue Sea Systems 1496 is a 12-position DC branch circuit breaker panel with an integrated M2 multimeter and state-of-charge display for battery management systems. It is built for 12/24V nominal systems, carries a maximum panel rating of 100A, and uses twelve 15A A-Series flat rocker circuit breakers to split a main DC feed into protected branch circuits.

The built-in M2 monitor keeps battery information at the same panel as the breakers, which is useful when the house bank is running lighting, pumps, electronics, refrigeration, and other everyday loads. ON-indicating LEDs and backlit label positions make the panel easier to read in a cabin, helm console, or electrical locker when light is low.

The 360 panel layout uses an open frame that groups multiple functions in one faceplate, so it suits installations where you want branch protection and battery status in one place. Overall size is 7.75 x 9.25 x 4 in. (196.85 x 234.95 x 101.6 mm), which is worth checking before a refit or panel replacement.

Key features
  • 12-position DC branch circuit breaker panel for routing one higher-amp feed to multiple lower-amp circuits
  • Nominal 12/24V operation with a 100A maximum panel rating
  • Integrated M2 multimeter with state-of-charge monitoring for one battery bank
  • Twelve 15A A-Series flat rocker circuit breakers already matched to the panel
  • ON-indicating LEDs for quick circuit status checks at the panel
  • Backlit label positions that stay readable at night or inside enclosed helm and cabin spaces
  • 360 open-frame layout that combines breaker control and battery monitoring in one panel footprint
Installation and setup

This panel belongs on the DC side of the boat and should be planned around the total feed to the panel, the twelve branch circuits, and the wiring needed for the M2 monitor. The 4 inch depth matters in tight helm consoles and bulkheads, so it is worth checking rear clearance for feed cables, breaker terminations, and meter connections before replacing an older panel.

It makes sense on boats where the breaker panel and battery data need to be visible from the same location. In a refit, that can reduce the need for a separate battery monitor elsewhere on the boat and keep routine checks in one place.

Compatibility and fit

This is a DC distribution panel, not an AC shore-power panel. It suits boats that need up to twelve switched and protected DC circuits from one central panel and want battery state-of-charge visible without adding another display in a different part of the vessel.

It is a good match for cruising boats, fishing boats, and other setups where the house bank supports several daily loads and the crew wants a quick read on battery condition before departure, during a long day on the water, or while sitting at anchor.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
