Overview

The Vimar VMV55204 is an IP56 surface-mount junction box in a 100 x 100 x 50 mm format for protecting splices and terminations where spray, washdowns, and vibration are part of normal boating life. It uses a plastic enclosure with a blind cover that screws down with stainless steel screws, helping keep the lid secure when wiring is tugged during service.

The walls are supplied undrilled, so cable glands or conduit entries can be placed where your run actually needs them while keeping the enclosure sealed. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 450 V and the working temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, which suits typical onboard locations that stay above freezing.

Key features
  • IP56 protection for dust exposure and powerful water jets, suitable for wet lockers, consoles, and other splash-prone areas
  • Surface-mount installation for wall or ceiling mounting on a flat bulkhead, panel, or underside of a deck
  • Undrilled, smooth walls so you can place cable glands or conduit entries to match your routing
  • Blind cover secured with stainless steel screws to hold closure under vibration and repeated access
  • Grey RAL 7035 enclosure for a clean, consistent look in technical spaces
  • Working temperature 0°C to 60°C and rated insulation voltage Ui 450 V for common onboard electrical environments
Installation and sealing

Mount the box to a solid surface where the cover screws can be accessed for inspection later. When drilling for entries, use properly sized cable glands or fittings and take care to keep swarf out of the enclosure before closing it up.

To preserve the IP rating, avoid routing cables so water can run directly into an entry point. A small drip loop in the cable and evenly tightening the cover screws helps the cover seat consistently.

Compatibility and fit

This enclosure is meant to provide a protected space for junctions, splices, and small internal connection hardware used in marine wiring. It is a practical choice when you need a serviceable junction point close to deck lights, cockpit accessories, sensors, pumps, or runs that transition through a bulkhead.

IP56 covers spray and washdowns, not permanent submersion, so it belongs in areas that can get wet but do not sit underwater.

Use on board

It suits owners and installers who want a neat junction point that is easy to reopen for troubleshooting without leaving connections exposed. It also fits refits where cable routing is not standardized and entry locations need to be drilled to match the vessel.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
