Overview
The Vimar VMV55106 is an IP55-rated surface-mount junction box sized 150 x 110 x 70 mm for protecting electrical splices and terminations in damp, splash-prone areas on a boat.
The enclosure is plastic with a grey RAL 7035 finish, and the cover closes with stainless steel screws. Cable entries use trimmable step membranes and suit 20 mm or 25 mm conduit, which helps keep runs neat and reduces cable movement where vibration is constant.
This box makes sense for deck and cockpit accessories, console wiring, and locker or lazarette circuits where you want connections enclosed and protected, but you are not installing in a space that can flood or remain submerged.
Key features
- IP55-rated enclosure for protection against dust and water spray
- 150 x 110 x 70 mm surface-mount box for bulkhead or overhead installation
- Up to 10 cable entry points with trimmable step membranes
- Entry system sized for 20 mm and 25 mm conduit
- Cover secured with stainless steel screws to hold tight in vibration-prone installs
- Rated insulation voltage (Ui): 450 V
- Working temperature range: 0 C to 60 C
- Grey RAL 7035 finish for a clean, low-contrast look in equipment spaces
Compatibility and fit
The rectangular body is intended for surface mounting, so it works well when you do not have the depth for a recessed box. Plan space around the lid so it can be removed for inspection and future service, especially if the box is mounted under a hardtop or inside a console.
The conduit-friendly entries are useful when you are protecting cable runs through lockers, under gunwales, or along a bulkhead where chafe protection matters.
Installation and setup
Mount the box on a flat surface and route cables so they approach from below or from the side when possible. Leave enough slack to open the cover without pulling on splices, and secure the cable run nearby so the entry points are not taking the full load of vibration.
Trim only the membrane steps you need for the cable or conduit size being used. Keep outer jackets intact into the box so water does not track along conductors, and keep unused entries sealed.
Electrical and system integration
This is a protective enclosure, not a terminal block by itself, so connection quality depends on the splices and terminations you install inside. Use tinned marine conductors and sealed connectors suited to your circuit, and keep connections positioned so the lid can close without pinching insulation.
Maintenance and checks
After the first few outings, check that the cover screws are snug and that the entry membranes still grip the cable or conduit cleanly. Any time the box is opened, wipe the sealing surfaces before closing it again so the IP55 protection is not compromised by grit or salt residue.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
