Overview
The Vimar VMV55003 is an IP44 surface-mount junction box sized at 80 x 80 x 40 mm for enclosing wire joins and terminations where you want a clean, accessible handoff point.
The housing is plastic with a blind (non-transparent) cover in RAL 7035 grey. It is rated with Ui 450 V insulation voltage and a working temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, which suits typical onboard AC and DC wiring when installed in an appropriate, protected location.
IP44 is a good match for sheltered areas that may see damp air or the occasional splash, but it is not meant for places that get steady hose-downs or any kind of immersion.
Key features
- IP44 protection for splash-prone, sheltered mounting locations.
- 80 x 80 x 40 mm square, surface-mount format for compact junctions.
- Six cable entry points with trimmable step membranes for routing and strain relief.
- Blind, non-transparent cover to keep wiring out of sight while still allowing quick access for inspection.
- Plastic enclosure in RAL 7035 grey with Ui 450 V insulation rating and 0°C to 60°C operating range.
Compatibility and fit
This box is intended for surface mounting on a flat bulkhead, panel, or overhead where you have room to bring cables in and still leave a gentle bend radius inside. If your run includes conduit or loom, plan the entry location so the lid can open without fighting the wiring.
For boats, it makes the most sense in dry lockers, behind helm panels, inside cabins, or under hardtops where spray is occasional rather than constant. For exposed deck areas or washdown zones, a higher IP-rated enclosure is usually the better call.
Installation and setup
Mount it to a solid surface on the wall or ceiling, then trim the step membranes to suit the cable diameter so the entry stays snug. Leave enough slack for service, keep splices and connectors positioned so the cover closes without pinching, and support heavier cables nearby so they are not hanging off the entries.
As with any junction point on a boat, the enclosure is only part of the protection. Use marine-appropriate connectors, make clean terminations, and keep dissimilar metals out of contact where corrosion could start at the connection itself.
Use cases on board
This style of junction box works well for splitting lighting circuits, grouping accessory feeds, or protecting a splice where a harness transitions through a bulkhead. It is also handy when you want a neat service point for troubleshooting without having loose connections floating behind a panel.
It is a good fit for owners and installers who want an organized, inspectable junction in a compact footprint, especially in interior spaces that see humidity, vibration, and occasional splashes.
Maintenance and care
Open the cover during routine checks and look for moisture, salt residue, or heat discoloration at the connectors. If the area tends to stay damp, drying it out early and improving cable support usually prevents repeat issues. Replace any compromised membranes or connectors so the enclosure keeps doing its job.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
