Overview
The Vimar VMV50405 is a surface-mount consumer mounting box with a vertically hinged transparent door and space for 5 modules (4+1).
It carries an IP40 rating for protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm, so it belongs in dry, protected areas such as an interior electrical locker, behind an inside console panel, or an enclosed technical space. Overall size is 170 mm high, 145 mm wide, and 95 mm deep, which helps when you need a compact enclosure without cutting into a bulkhead.
The housing is plastic in a grey RAL 7035 finish, includes a DIN rail, and is pre-set for support of the V51859 earth terminal block.
Key features
- Surface-mounted enclosure for 5 modular spaces (4+1) in a single row
- IP40 protection for interior locations where the box is not exposed to spray or washdowns
- Transparent door with a vertical hinge so device positions can be checked without opening the cover
- DIN-rail ready for compatible modular components
- Top and bottom knockouts for cable entry and routing flexibility
- 170 mm x 145 mm x 95 mm overall size for compact installs
- Grey RAL 7035 finish that keeps a clean, neutral look on board
- Pre-set for support of the V51859 earth terminal block
Installation and setup
Mount the enclosure to a flat surface using fasteners suited to the bulkhead or panel material, and leave clearance so the door can swing fully. Plan cable entry so conductors do not rub or pinch at the knockouts when the door is closed.
After pulling in wiring from the top or bottom, dress conductors neatly and support heavier cable runs close to the entry point, especially in areas that see vibration.
Compatibility and fit
This box is intended for modular components that mount on a DIN rail and fit within 5 module spaces. Confirm the module width of the devices you plan to install and allow room for wiring bend radius within the 95 mm depth.
On boats, the IP40 rating is the key limiter: it is not a water seal. Use it in protected compartments rather than in cockpits, open helm areas, or other locations that see washdowns.
Use cases on board
It is commonly used as a small distribution point near a nav station, a service enclosure for interior circuits, or a tidy control box inside an enclosed technical locker. It fits well when you want a closed cover for safety and quick visual checks through the transparent door.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
