Overview
The Vimar VM14901 is a surface enclosure that holds one module and is rated IP55. It is used when you want to mount a Vimar Eikon, Arké, or Plana device on a bulkhead or panel while adding protection against dust and water spray in areas that see washdowns.
The enclosure is about 83 x 68 x 66 mm (H x W x D) and uses a grey plastic body with insulating construction. Keep the front cover fully closed to maintain the IP55 protection level, and treat it as spray and washdown protection rather than a solution for immersion.
Key features
- IP55 protection level for dust and water jets from typical deck and cockpit washdowns
- 1-module capacity for Vimar Eikon, Arké, and Plana mechanisms
- Surface-mount format for refits and exposed mounting locations where a recessed box is not practical
- Approx. 83 x 68 x 66 mm overall size (H x W x D) for tight helm, cabin, and utility panels
- Plastic housing with insulating construction to reduce accidental contact risk during installation and service
- Grey finish that blends well with most consoles, bulkheads, and locker interiors
- Cable entry provision for bringing wiring into the enclosure without leaving the opening exposed
Compatibility and fit
This enclosure is made for a single 1-module device from the Vimar Eikon, Arké, and Plana families. Confirm the mechanism you plan to install is a true 1-module format and that you have the matching front parts for the series you are using, since the enclosure itself is only the protected housing.
Installation and setup
Mount the enclosure on a flat surface with appropriate fasteners for your substrate, then route conductors through the cable entry and make terminations to the installed mechanism per the device instructions. In exposed marine locations, sealing screw penetrations and managing cable entry to shed water helps the install stay dry behind the cover. Use tinned marine wire and secure the run to handle vibration.
Use cases on board
This type of IP55 surface enclosure is a good match for switches and small control points installed in cockpits, deck access areas, lockers, and utility spaces where spray happens and hands are often wet. It is also useful at the helm or nav station when you want a surface-mounted solution without cutting a deep hole in a finished panel.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt residue when you can and wipe the sealing surfaces clean so the cover closes fully. During routine checks, confirm the cover still seats properly and that wiring remains strain-relieved inside the box.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
