Overview
The Vimar VM14396 is a built-in emergency hand lamp with a charging socket for 120 V~ (50-60 Hz) systems. It keeps a rechargeable Ni-MH battery topped up while docked, then gives you a grab-and-go light source during a power loss with an automatic emergency function.
Light output comes from a non-exchangeable LED with a maximum system power of 1 W, and the battery runtime is rated up to 2 hours. The unit is Class II and rated IP40, which suits protected interior spaces where you want a dedicated emergency light point without using up countertop or locker space.
The front face measures 44.80 mm wide by 49.00 mm high/deep, with built-in dimensions of 44.80 mm by 39.50 mm. The housing is plastic in a white finish, matching clean cabin and wheelhouse installations.

Compatibility and fit
This hand lamp is intended for vessels with a 120 V AC system. The IP40 rating points it toward dry, protected areas such as the cabin, wheelhouse, nav station, or inside a distribution area where it stays sheltered from spray, washdowns, and direct weather exposure.
Before cutting in, confirm you have the required built-in dimensions and enough clearance behind the panel for the unit depth and wiring. Planning placement near companionways or near the main electrical area helps keep it easy to reach when the boat is dark.
Installation and setup
The built-in body is meant to sit flush in a panel opening and be wired to the onboard 120 V AC supply so the lamp can charge while docked. Once installed, store the lamp in its socket so the battery stays maintained and the emergency function is available.
After installation, do a quick functional check by removing the lamp and verifying operation, then re-seat it to confirm charging behavior. For any AC wiring changes on board, use appropriate marine practices and protection for the circuit feeding the unit.
Use cases on board
This setup makes sense for crews who want a fixed, always-known location for emergency lighting, especially on cruising boats, working boats, or larger yachts with multiple compartments. It is a practical fit for interior routes where you may need hands-free movement while carrying the lamp from its dock to a panel, locker, or berth area.
Maintenance and care
Keep the docking contacts clean and dry so charging remains consistent. If runtime drops noticeably over time, the Ni-MH battery is replaceable, which helps you restore performance without changing the whole unit.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
