Overview
The Vimar VM14008.0 is a Plana series 1-pole normally open (1P NO) push-button mechanism rated 10 A at 250 V~. It is a momentary contact, so the circuit closes only while the button is pressed, which is useful when you want a clean trigger instead of a latching on-off switch.
It is a lightable mechanism and completes with compatible Plana 1, 2, or 3-module buttons and the matching mounting hardware. The body is halogen-free thermoplastic with a glossy white finish (RAL 9003), and the front is rated IP40 for protected interior locations.
Physical size is 22.3 mm wide, 49.0 mm high, and 38.4 mm deep, which helps when you are checking clearance behind a helm panel, cabin switch bank, or bulkhead trim panel.

Compatibility and fit
This mechanism is part of the Vimar Plana modular system, so fit depends on using the matching Plana supports, buttons, and cover plates. It occupies a 1-module space at the mechanism level, while the visible button can be a 1, 2, or 3-module style depending on the look and panel layout you are building.
Before ordering, confirm you have enough depth behind the panel for the mechanism body and wiring bend radius, especially in tight helm consoles where harnesses and network cabling share the same cavity.
Installation and setup
The snap-fit fastening is helpful when you are building a clean switch bank and want consistent alignment across multiple modules. Because this is a normally open momentary contact, it is commonly wired to a control input, relay coil, contactor circuit, or logic module, rather than switching large DC loads directly.
Electrical work on board should follow local regulations and be carried out by a qualified installer, particularly when the circuit includes AC power or critical equipment.
Use on board
On boats, a momentary push button is often used for horn circuits, door and locker releases, triggering a lighting scene controller, or as the command input for a windlass, thruster, or pump control relay. In low light, pairing it with a compatible lighting accessory can make it easier to find at the helm without leaving bright cabin lights on.
This is a good match for owners refitting a Plana switch panel or adding a consistent, modular control point in cabins, pilothouses, or other protected areas where spray and washdowns are not hitting the front of the device.
Maintenance and care
For routine cleaning, wipe the visible surfaces with a soft, lightly damp cloth and avoid aggressive solvents that can haze glossy plastics. If installed in a saltwater environment, keeping the area dry and reducing salt buildup around the panel helps maintain smooth button action over time.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
