Overview
The Hella Marine 998502001 is a hand-held twin-beam halogen search light for 12V boats, with a black housing for use on deck, in the cockpit, or at the helm when you need a controllable spot of light.
Two separate switches run two reflectors and two H3 bulbs: a 55W beam for close-range work around docks and lines, and a 100W beam for longer-range spotting. Power is supplied through a spiral cable with a cigarette-lighter plug and up to 3.5 m of extended length, which helps when you are moving between stations.
The housing is shock- and vibration-resistant plastic with a high-gloss aluminum reflector, and the lens sits behind an extended front edge that helps protect the glass. An IP X6K protection rating makes it a better fit for wet conditions than typical handheld lights.

- Spiral power cable with cigarette-lighter plug; extended length 3.5 m
- Shock- and vibration-resistant plastic housing with high-gloss aluminum reflector

Installation and onboard use
This light is operated by hand, which is useful when you need to sweep a shoreline, pick out channel markers, check the dock, or locate gear without changing your fixed lighting. The coiled lead helps keep slack down, but it should still be routed so it cannot snag on throttles, winches, cleats, or rod holders.
A deck mount base accessory is available separately (8HG 998 519-001) for setups that want a consistent stowage or mounting point.
Compatibility and fit
Use on 12V DC systems with an accessory socket that matches the cigarette-lighter plug. This version is a good match for boaters who want a handheld spotlight that plugs into existing 12V power without adding dedicated wiring.
What’s included
- Hand-held search light with spiral power cable and cigarette-lighter plug
- 12V 55W H3 bulb
- 12V 100W H3 bulb
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue off the housing and lens after heavy spray or washdowns, and let the unit dry before stowing. Avoid touching halogen bulbs with bare fingers during replacement, and keep the lens free of grit so it does not scratch when wiped.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
