Overview
The Raymarine Type 1 Pump is a reversing hydraulic autopilot pump for boats with existing hydraulic steering systems. It is made for steering ram capacities from 80 to 230 cc, or 4.9 to 14.0 cubic inches, and is offered in 12V and 24V versions so it can match the vessel’s DC system.
This pump connects into the boat’s hydraulic steering lines and moves steering fluid when commanded by a compatible Raymarine autopilot control unit. For owners replacing a failed pump or building an Evolution autopilot system, the main fit checks are the steering cylinder volume, system voltage, and the compatible ACU for the selected variant.
Key features
- Type 1 reversing hydraulic pump for boats with existing hydraulic steering.
- Fits steering rams with 80 to 230 cc capacity, equal to 4.9 to 14.0 cubic inches.
- Available in 12V and 24V versions for matching the vessel’s electrical system.
- Peak no-load flow rate of 1000 cc per minute, or 67 cubic inches per minute.
- Works as the hydraulic drive unit in a Raymarine autopilot system controlled by an Evolution ACU.
- Suitable for single or double ended hydraulic rams when the ram capacity is within the Type 1 range.
Variants
This product is offered in two voltage configurations for Type 1 hydraulic steering installations.
The variants differ by DC system voltage and compatible Raymarine ACU use. Both are Type 1 hydraulic autopilot pumps for steering systems with 80 to 230 cc ram capacity.
- M81120: Voltage 12V. This version is for 12 V DC boats and is listed for Raymarine ACU-150 or ACU-200 systems.
- M81119: Voltage 24V. This version is for 24 V DC boats and is listed for Raymarine ACU-200 systems.
Compatibility and fit
Fit is based on the hydraulic steering ram capacity, not simply on boat length. Before ordering, check the steering system documentation or the markings on the hydraulic cylinder to confirm that the ram volume falls within the 80 to 230 cc Type 1 range.
The pump is part of an autopilot drive system and is not a stand-alone steering replacement. It should be matched with the correct Raymarine course computer or Evolution ACU, control head, heading sensor, and any other required autopilot components for the vessel.
Installation and setup
Installation involves mounting the pump securely, connecting it into the hydraulic steering circuit, wiring it to the compatible Raymarine control unit, and bleeding air from the hydraulic system before final autopilot checks. A clean hydraulic installation matters because trapped air, loose fittings, or incorrect hose routing can affect steering feel and autopilot response.
On boats used for coastal cruising, fishing runs, or longer passages, this pump is a practical match when the boat already has hydraulic steering and the owner wants the autopilot to steer through the existing hydraulic system.
Maintenance and care
After installation, the pump and nearby hydraulic lines should be inspected as part of normal steering system checks. Look for secure mounting, clean electrical connections, and any sign of fluid weep, hose wear, or cable damage, especially in engine room or aft locker locations where vibration and heat are common.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
