Overview
The Vimar VM09956 is a 1-module surface mounting box with backplate, 40 mm depth, for one 8000 standard module installation, in an ivory finish. The box measures 79.5 mm long by 36.5 mm wide and is rated IP20 for protected interior locations.
Use it when you need a clean surface mount on a bulkhead or headliner and there is no room or no desire to recess a box into the panel. The cover screws on, which helps it stay put on boats that see vibration.
This enclosure is intended for dry, indoor-type areas on board. Keep it out of direct spray and washdowns, and plan a different enclosure where water protection is required.

Compatibility and fit
This box is for 8000 standard 1-module devices. It is used with the matching mounting frame and cover plate chosen for the specific switch, socket, or accessory you are installing.
Devices with codes starting 08064 or 08065 are not supported by this box.
This is the enclosure only. Electrical ratings, circuit protection, and marine compliance depend on the installed module and the way the circuit is built on the boat.
Installation and setup
Surface mounting keeps the panel intact, but plan wire routing first so you have enough slack for terminations once the module is seated in the mounting frame. Keep bends gentle and avoid pinching conductors at the box edge.
On a boat, mount the box to a flat, solid surface so the finished plate sits square. If the mounting surface is thin, adding backing material behind the screws helps prevent looseness over time.
Materials and protection
The plastic body is halogen-free and the enclosure is IP20, so it belongs in protected spaces. In salty environments, keeping the installation dry and easy to wipe down helps the connected device stay clean and trouble-free.
Use on board
This type of box is a good match for refits where a single Vimar module is being added without cutting into a bulkhead, such as at a nav station, cabin entry, or inside a dry locker. It also works well when you want the module to sit proud of the surface for easier access to wiring behind the device.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
