Overview
The Attwood Marine Yamaha Hose Female Fuel Fitting is a female quick-connect hose-end fitting for Yamaha-style outboard fuel systems, used at the tank or engine end depending on the setup. This parent product covers two barb sizes, 5/16 in and 3/8 in, so the fitting can be matched to the inside diameter of the fuel hose already on the boat.
It is made for portable tank and outboard fuel line connections where a clean, secure hose-to-fitting transition matters, especially on small boats, tenders, fishing boats, and repower or fuel-line replacement jobs. The fitting mates with the Attwood 8897-6 Yamaha tank fitting and is suitable for leaded, unleaded, ethanol-blended, and alcohol-blended fuels.
Key features
- Female Yamaha-style quick-connect fitting for fuel hose assemblies at the tank or engine end.
- Available with 5/16 in or 3/8 in barb sizes to match common marine fuel hose inside diameters.
- Acetal construction helps keep the fitting light and practical for exposed fuel-line connections on board.
- Compatible with Attwood 8897-6 Yamaha tank fitting for matching quick-connect fuel system setups.
- Suitable for leaded, unleaded, ethanol-blended, and alcohol-blended marine fuels.
- Hose clamps are not included, so the installation can be completed with clamps sized for the selected hose.
Variants
This fitting is offered in two hose barb configurations for matching the fuel hose size used on the boat.
The connection style and Yamaha-style female fuel fitting function are consistent across the range, while the barb size changes to suit 5/16 in or 3/8 in hose.
- 88FHY516-6: Hose size 5/16 in barb. This size fits 5/16 in inside-diameter fuel hose and is a common choice when replacing or building a smaller outboard fuel line assembly.
- 8896LP6: Hose size 3/8 in barb. This size fits 3/8 in inside-diameter fuel hose and works for fuel line setups that use the larger hose size.
Installation and fit
Match the barb size to the fuel hose inside diameter before installation. The fitting should be secured with fuel-line clamps, and any threaded connection in the matching fuel system should be assembled with fuel-compatible thread sealant where threads are used.
Before running the engine, check the connection by priming the fuel line and inspecting for leaks at the barb, clamp area, and quick-connect interface. This is especially important after replacing old hose, changing tanks, or servicing a fuel line that has been exposed to sun, salt, or repeated removal.
Use cases on board
This fitting is a practical replacement part for portable outboard fuel lines, spare tank setups, and routine maintenance on Yamaha-style fuel systems. It suits boaters who need to refresh a worn connector, build a new fuel hose assembly, or keep a properly sized spare fitting on board for dockside or ramp-side repairs.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
