Overview

The Vimar VM08430 is a 230 V AC TORCIA hand lamp that docks into its charging socket so you always know where your emergency torch is, and it stays charged between uses. When it is seated in the charger with the auxiliary mode enabled, it comes on automatically during a power cut and switches itself off when power returns.

It uses a fixed white LED light source and draws 1 W from the system. On a full charge you can expect about 2 hours of operating time from the replaceable Ni-MH battery pack.

This is a recessed-mount device for Vimar 8000 series installations, occupying 2 special modules with a 41 mm recessed depth. With IP40 protection and Class II insulation, it belongs in dry interior locations rather than anywhere exposed to spray, washdowns, or heavy condensation.

Key features
  • 230 V AC, 50 to 60 Hz charging with a dedicated charging socket plus removable torch
  • Automatic emergency function when docked and auxiliary mode is enabled, with auto shut-off when mains power returns
  • Fixed white LED with a built-in narrow-angle lens and constant-current drive for steady output while running on battery
  • Approx. 2 hours autonomy after recharge
  • Replaceable rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack (4.8 V, 80 mAh) with about 48 hours needed for a full recharge
  • Torch plug format uses 4 mm round pins with 19 mm center spacing, and it can also be recharged from compatible socket outlets
  • Recessed installation depth 41 mm; occupies 2 special modules in the Vimar 8000 series
  • IP40 rating and Class II insulation for dry, indoor mounting, with operating temperature from 0°C to +40°C
Compatibility and fit

This unit is intended for Vimar 8000 series modular installations where you want a recessed charging point that also stores the torch. It uses 2 special modules and requires 41 mm of recessed depth behind the mounting surface.

The torch can be recharged by docking into its charging socket, and it can also be plugged into socket outlets that accept 4 mm round pins on 19 mm centers. It is not intended to be installed on flush-mounted charging socket outlets 08691... and 08591...

Installation and placement

Mount it in a dry interior area where it can be reached quickly, such as near the companionway, at the navigation station, or by the main AC distribution panel. Because the enclosure is IP40, avoid lockers that see dripping water, wet foul-weather gear, or routine washdowns.

Power is taken from a 230 V AC circuit like other recessed wiring accessories. On boats, it is typically installed on the shore-power side of the system or on an inverter-fed AC circuit, depending on when you want it available.

Use on board

With the torch docked, it doubles as an auxiliary light during a blackout, which helps when you need hands-free light to check the electrical panel, find flashlights, or move through the cabin safely. Undocked, it works as a portable hand lamp for quick checks in cabins, bilge access points, or storage areas that stay dry.

It is a good match for boats that run a 230 V AC system and want a dedicated place to keep an emergency torch charged, without relying on loose chargers and spare batteries.

Charging and maintenance

The slide switch and the red or green indicator show whether the auxiliary lighting function is disabled or enabled while charging. If the boat will be left with the AC supply off for an extended time, set the switch to the off position to reduce battery discharge while docked.

The Ni-MH battery pack is replaceable. When replacing the battery, keep connector polarity correct and dispose of used batteries through appropriate battery recycling channels.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
