Johnson, Evinrude and Gale Outboard Converging Motors RING 3 1/8" ID (332543) Bombardier Recreational Products. It diverts a small amount of water inward to keep the engine exhaust from reaching the propeller blades. The ring was later reversed and used as a flare on some props. They are held in place by tabs in a groove and can be removed.
