Overview

The Vimar VM08408 is a 2P+E German-standard SICURY socket outlet rated 16 A at 250 V~ (50-60 Hz), built for flush mounting in the Vimar 8000 module system.

It uses screw terminals for the power connections and a snap-in fastening method in the mounting support. Enhanced contact protection is built in, and the outlet is IP20, so it belongs in interior areas that stay dry, like cabins, salons, and navigation stations.

The face is white (RAL 9001) with a matte finish, and the body is halogen-free thermoplastic. The compact insert measures 45.0 mm high and 39.5 mm deep, which helps when panel depth is limited.

Key features
  • German 2P+E (Schuko / Type F, CEE 7/3) socket format for common European AC plugs
  • 16 A, 250 V~ rating with 50-60 Hz systems
  • Flush-mounted insert sized for 2 special modules in the Vimar 8000 series
  • Screw-terminal wiring connections and snap-in fastening
  • Enhanced contact protection
  • IP20 protection level for indoor locations that stay dry
  • Halogen-free thermoplastic body with white RAL 9001 matte finish
  • Device size: 45.0 mm height and 39.5 mm depth
Compatibility and fit

This is a single socket outlet in the German standard format, so it is meant for equipment that uses Type F (Schuko) plugs. Before ordering, confirm your onboard AC system and shore-power adapters are set up for this plug style.

It installs as a 2-module device in the Vimar 8000 system. Match the module count and color with the correct Vimar 8000 mounting support and cover plate used on your boat.

Installation and setup

Mount it in a flush box or panel position where the rear clearance meets the 39.5 mm depth and where wiring can be routed without sharp bends. The snap-in engagement holds the insert in the support once it is seated correctly.

Wire it using the screw terminals and secure conductors so vibration does not work them loose over time. For marine installations, keep the outlet on a properly protected AC branch circuit and follow the wiring practices used for your vessel.

Use on board

In a cabin or saloon, it works well for chargers, small galley appliances, and other shore-power loads that stay within the circuit rating. It is a good match for European-spec boats or crews that routinely use Schuko-plug equipment onboard.

Because it is IP20, avoid mounting it in cockpits, wet heads, engine rooms, or any location that sees spray, washdowns, or heavy condensation.

Maintenance and care

Periodically check that the face sits tight in the frame and that plugs insert smoothly. If you ever notice heat discoloration, arcing marks, or loose fit, disconnect power and inspect the wiring and terminals.

Clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth only, and keep solvents away from the thermoplastic surface.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
