Overview

The Garmin 010-00351-00 is a GMS 10 network port expander that connects multiple chartplotters and Garmin Marine Network devices so they can share data across a switched 10/100 Mbps network. It adds five Garmin Marine Network ports in one enclosure, which helps when a helm system has outgrown the available NETWORK ports on the displays.

Power is 10 to 35 Vdc for typical 12 V and 24 V boats, with 2.75 W maximum draw and an inline AGC/3AG 2.0 amp fuse on the power lead. The case is fully gasketed with an IPX7 waterproof rating, and weather caps protect unused network ports from spray and washdowns.

At 3.5 in W x 2.3 in H x 11.8 in D (89.0 x 57.2 x 300.8 mm) and about 1.2 lb, it mounts easily near other network electronics. It also passes control signals so networked sensors can power on and off with a connected chartplotter, reducing the need to switch each sensor circuit separately.

Key features
  • Five Garmin Marine Network ports for expanding a system beyond two networked devices
  • 10/100 Mbps switch with per-port LED indicators for link/activity, duplex/collision status, and 100 Mbps operation
  • Shares data between compatible network devices, including mapping and sounder data as well as position information
  • Passes control signals so connected sensors can power on and off with a chartplotter on the same expander
  • 10 to 35 Vdc input for 12 V and 24 V systems; 2.75 W maximum draw; inline AGC/3AG 2.0 amp fuse on the power cable
  • Fully gasketed case with IPX7 waterproof rating and threaded, capped connectors to help resist vibration and spray
  • Operating temperature range of -15 C to 70 C for typical helm and electronics-compartment installs
What’s included
  • GMS 10 network port expander
  • Garmin marine network cable
  • 7-pin power cable with inline 2.0 amp fuse
  • Grommet for cable pass-through
  • Mounting hardware kit with brackets and screws/nuts for installs that cannot use the factory-drilled mounting holes
Installation and setup

Mount the unit where network cables can reach your displays and other network devices without tight bends, and leave room for the cable heads and locking rings at each port. A location away from heavy foot traffic helps protect the connectors and reduces the chance of cables being snagged in rough water.

Network connections use Garmin Marine Network cables that lock in place with a threaded cap. Keep the weather caps installed on any unused ports. When routing cables through bulkheads, use the included grommet to finish the hole and reduce chafe.

The power lead uses a red positive wire and a black negative wire for connection to a battery or fuse block. Keep the inline 2.0 amp fuse in place. If you use the brackets, note that fasteners for securing the unit to the boat are separate from the bracket hardware.

Compatibility and system integration

This expander is for systems that use Garmin Marine Network ports labeled NETWORK on compatible chartplotters and network accessories. It is not a NMEA 2000 backbone component, and it is not intended for standard computer Ethernet connections. Plan your network around Garmin Marine Network cables and the physical connector style used on your equipment.

For larger installs, multiple expanders can be mounted near each other to grow the number of available network ports while keeping cable runs short and serviceable.

Use cases on board

This is a practical fit when you are running more than two networked Garmin displays, or when you are adding multiple network sensors and want them available across the helm. It is commonly mounted behind the helm, inside an electronics locker, or in a protected console area where cable routing stays clean and dry.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
