Overview
The Vimar VM08270 is a 1-pole, normally open cord-operated momentary push button rated 10 A at 250 V~ for flush-mounted installations. It gives you a quick pull-to-activate contact, with a 1.5 m cord so the control point can be reached from a berth, locker opening, heads area, or any spot where a standard wall button is awkward.
This is an IP40 device, so it belongs in dry, protected interiors rather than exposed cockpits or washdown zones. On board it is typically used as a momentary control input for a relay, controller, bell, or signaling circuit where you want the circuit to close only while the cord is pulled.
The body is halogen-free thermoplastic with a matt white finish (RAL 9001) and includes a label area, which helps keep panels and service points readable when multiple controls are grouped together.
Key features
- Momentary 1P/NO contact (circuit closes only while operated)
- Electrical rating: 10 A, 250 V~
- 1.5 m operating cord for remote, easy-to-reach activation
- Flush-mounted device with snap (engage) fastening
- IP40 protection level for sheltered interior locations
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with matt white finish (RAL 9001)
- Overall size: 22.00 mm wide, 50.10 mm high, 35.00 mm deep
- Label space on the front for clear circuit identification
Installation and fit
Plan for a flush-mount position with enough clearance behind the surface for the 35.00 mm device depth and for bending the conductors without stress. If you are mounting into joinery or a thin liner, make sure the backing structure supports the module so it does not flex when the cord is pulled.
Route the cord so it moves freely and does not chafe on edges or snag on gear. On a boat, that usually means keeping it away from hatch corners, locker lids, and moving seat bases, and leaving a clean path that stays predictable underway.
Electrical and onboard use
Wire it as a normally open momentary contact in the control circuit you are switching. For DC onboard systems, it is often used to trigger a relay or control input rather than switching heavy DC loads directly, which helps keep arcing and heat out of the switch location.
Confirm the circuit load and protection match the device rating, and use marine-appropriate conductors, terminations, and strain relief for vibration. If the control is near damp spaces, place it where it stays dry and where condensation or drips cannot run into the module.
Where it works best on board
This style of pull-cord momentary button makes sense in cabins, heads compartments, closets, and under-counter spaces where you want a simple, reachable call or trigger point. It is also useful at service access points where you want a quick, labeled momentary control without adding a bulky panel switch.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the front surface with a lightly damp cloth and avoid harsh solvents that can haze plastics. Periodically check that the cord runs smoothly and that the mounting remains tight after seasons of vibration and temperature cycling.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
