Overview
The Vimar VM08268 is a 1-pole, normally-open momentary push button rated 10 A at 250 V~ with a general luminous symbol on the front. It is a flush-mounted module for Vimar 8000 Series panels, made for clean, repeatable installs where you want a push-to-activate control that returns when released.
On a boat, this style of push button is commonly used as a command switch for things like relays, contactors, or control inputs at the helm or inside an electrical panel. With an IP40 rating, it belongs in protected interior locations (behind a plate and out of direct spray and washdowns), not on exposed deck surfaces.
Key features
- Momentary action, 1P NO: contact closes while pressed and opens when released
- Electrical rating: 10 A at 250 V~
- Illuminable front with general symbol; supplied without the signalling unit
- Flush-mounted modular format for Vimar 8000 Series installations
- IP40 protection level for dry, protected panels
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with a matt, untreated surface
- Approx. size: 22.00 mm wide, 50.10 mm high, 35.00 mm deep
Compatibility and fit
This module is intended for the Vimar 8000 Series system, where the device snaps into the compatible mounting support and sits behind the matching cover plate. Before ordering, confirm you have the correct 8000 Series frame/plate combination and enough clearance behind the mounting surface for the 35 mm device depth plus wiring bend radius.
Installation and wiring
Install it as a flush-mounted device in a protected panel or bulkhead location. Keep wiring supported so vibration does not work the conductors loose over time, and use proper terminations for the wire type you are running (crimped terminals and strain relief where needed). Circuit protection should be sized to the downstream circuit, not just the switch rating.
For higher current loads, it is often used as the control button that triggers a relay or contactor rather than carrying motor or inverter load directly. If you are working on AC systems, follow marine electrical practices and local requirements for isolation, grounding, and protected routing.
Visibility and labeling
The front has a general symbol and supports a signalling unit so the button can be lit for night operation. This is useful on interior helm panels and nav stations where you want controls to stay readable without adding separate indicator lights, while still keeping the face layout consistent across a multi-switch bank.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for refits and new builds that are standardizing on Vimar 8000 Series modules in interior control stations, cabins, or electrical lockers. It fits well where you need a clear momentary command for a horn circuit, a remote control function, or a low-current control input that should not stay latched on.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the front with a lightly damp cloth and avoid aggressive solvents that can haze plastics. Because it is IP40, keep it out of direct washdowns and inspect the mounting plate and wiring occasionally so the module stays seated and the terminals remain tight.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
