Overview

The Victron Energy VBS127010010 is a Battery Switch ON/OFF 275A for isolating a DC battery circuit on boats and other mobile power systems. It is rated for 275A continuous DC current, supports battery systems up to 48V nominal, and has a maximum DC operating voltage of 60V. Use it as a main battery disconnect, service isolation point, or emergency shutoff for house batteries, starter circuits, alternator circuits, DC loads, chargers, or an inverter feed.

The switch can be surface mounted or rear panel mounted, so it fits battery compartments, helm panels, lockers, and engine-room layouts where cable access and hand clearance matter. The removable knob lets the circuit stay off during maintenance or when a vessel is left unattended, while ISO8846 / SAE J1171 ignition protection supports installation in engine-room areas when fitted correctly.

Key features
  • 275A continuous DC current rating, with 455A for 5 minutes and 1250A cranking capacity for 10 seconds.
  • Works with battery systems up to 48V and a maximum DC operating voltage of 60V.
  • Surface mount or rear panel mount options help fit the switch into compact marine electrical spaces.
  • Removable knob helps prevent unwanted operation during service work or while the boat is unattended.
  • M10 terminals accept 3/8 inch cable lugs, with tin-plated copper terminals and hex nuts.
  • Glass fiber reinforced nylon base and ISO8846 / SAE J1171 ignition protection for engine-room installations.
  • Removable cable access window on all four sides helps route battery cable cleanly.
Installation and wiring

For full-current installations, use 120mm² (4/0 AWG) cable on the terminals and tighten the terminal hardware to 70 lbf-inch (8 N.m), with 12.5 N.m as the maximum. The terminals are M10, so confirm lug size, cable bend radius, and cover clearance before final mounting. The positive battery terminal should be disconnected before installation, and sensitive DC loads, alternators, and motors should be switched off before using the battery switch to disconnect the DC supply.

The enclosure measures 2.71 x 2.71 x 2.87 inch (69 x 69 x 73 mm) and weighs 0.4 lb (0.2 kg). For rear panel mounting, confirm the knob cutout and screw hole positions with the supplied mounting template before drilling.

Use on board

This switch fits vessels where the owner or installer wants a clear ON/OFF battery isolation point for the house bank, starter battery, inverter supply, alternator circuit, or a parallel connection between battery banks. It suits refits and new installs where the switch must be easy to reach, clearly labeled, and able to sit near higher-current DC cabling.

Operation and care

The knob turns clockwise for ON, counter clockwise for OFF, and then a further 30 degrees counter clockwise to the remove position. When the knob is removed, the switch remains off, which helps prevent accidental switching while work is being done around the batteries or DC panel.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
