Overview

The Vimar VM08013 is a 1P 16AX reversing (intermediate) switch for 250 V~ circuits, commonly used to control a single light from three or more locations when wired between two 2-way switches.

It is rated for self-ballasted lamps up to 200 W and fits a 1-module opening in the Vimar 8000 Series system. The device measures 22.00 mm wide by 50.10 mm high, with 38.00 mm overall depth and 27.00 mm built-in depth, so it suits most bulkhead panels and cabinetry where space behind the mounting surface is limited.

With an IP40 rating and a halogen-free thermoplastic body in a matt beige finish (similar to RAL 9001), this switch is intended for protected interior locations such as cabins, nav stations, galleys, or enclosed technical panels rather than exposed, washdown-prone areas.

Installation and wiring

This is a flush-mount device that installs into a compatible 1-module mounting frame and cover plate system. Allow for the built-in depth behind the panel and route conductors so the terminals are not strained when the device is seated.

As with any onboard AC switching, isolate shore power and inverter feeds before work begins, use properly protected circuits, and keep connections tight and well-supported so they stay stable under vibration.

Compatibility and fit

VM08013 is sized for the Vimar 8000 Series modular ecosystem and is typically used where a matching Vimar look is already installed throughout the vessel. The beige finish (similar to RAL 9001) helps it blend with classic interiors and existing 8000 Series plates.

Because the unit is IP40, plan it for dry, enclosed areas. For helm faces, cockpit coamings, and other spots that see spray, place it behind a protected door or inside a sealed electrical panel rather than in direct exposure.

Use on board

This switch is a good match for refits and new builds that want multi-point control of interior lighting, such as controlling a cabin light from the companionway, the main salon, and the berth area, while keeping the same Vimar modular styling across the boat.
