Overview

The Vimar VM08005 is a 1-pole, 2-way rocker switch rated 16AX at 250V AC for switching a circuit from two locations on board.

It mounts flush in a modular Vimar 8000 Series layout with snap-in fastening, and the compact body helps when you are working behind tight liners or switch panels. The housing is IP40, so it is intended for protected interior locations behind a cover plate rather than exposed deck, cockpit, or washdown areas.

The halogen-free thermoplastic body has a beige finish (RAL 9001) with a matt, untreated surface that blends neatly into light-colored panels.

Installation and wiring

A 2-way switch is used when the same load needs control from two different locations, using the appropriate two-way wiring method for your system. Keep the switch in a dry, protected area, and route conductors so they are supported and not pulling on the terminals when the boat is moving.

Before installation, isolate power, confirm circuit voltage and load type, and verify that the switch rating matches the application. After commissioning, recheck the fasteners and wiring after the first few outings if the panel lives in a high-vibration zone.

Use on board

This switch makes sense for boats already using Vimar modular plates where you want the same light or accessory controlled from two spots, like a berth area and the main cabin passage. It is also a good fit for refits where you are keeping the existing Vimar layout and need a matching 2-way module.

Maintenance and care

Wipe the face with a soft, lightly damp cloth and avoid solvent cleaners that can mark plastics. If the switch lives near a companionway or hatch, keep the installation protected from spray and check periodically that moisture is not entering the panel.
