Overview
The Vimar VM03906 is a 4-button Zigbee Green Power and Friends of Hue wireless switch that sends commands over 2.4 GHz without needing batteries or a wired power feed. It uses an internal electrodynamic generator, so each press generates the energy needed to transmit the command.
This is a surface-mounted, 2-module control intended for sheltered interior areas (IP40). On board, it is commonly used as a wall-mounted lighting and scene controller in cabins, saloons, helm stations, or anywhere you want a switch location without running new wiring through liners and bulkheads.
The switch module is completed with compatible Vimar button sets, so the visible key style and color depend on the buttons and plates you pair it with.
Key features
- Zigbee Green Power and Friends of Hue radio transmitter on 2.4 GHz
- Battery-free operation with a built-in electrodynamic generator
- IP40 rating for protected indoor locations on the boat
- 2-module format for pairing with compatible Vimar buttons and plates
- Surface-mount installation for refits where you want a switch point without pulling cables
- Works with compatible Vimar button sets including Eikon 20506, Arké 19506, and Plana 14506
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting spot like you would any interior control: reachable with one hand, away from spray, and not in a spot that gets direct washdowns. IP40 is fine for dry cabins and protected consoles, but it is not a watertight rating for exposed cockpits.
Because the switch is self-powered, there is no 12V or 24V feed to connect and no neutral to chase. That makes it a practical option during refits when adding a new control point would otherwise mean opening up joinery or pulling new cable runs.
Compatibility and system integration
This is a wireless control, not a load switch. It sends Zigbee Green Power commands to a compatible system and does not directly switch AC or DC power to a light. Make sure your smart lighting setup supports Zigbee Green Power and Friends of Hue commissioning.
In a Hue-based setup, commissioning is done through a Hue Bridge v2 (square) and the Hue app, allowing the buttons to be assigned to on and off, dimming, and stored scenes as supported by your lighting configuration.
Use cases on board
It is a good match for owners who want Hue-style scene control in more than one location, such as adding a second switch by the berth, at the companionway, or near the galley, without running wiring through tight chases. It also fits well in sealed or hard-to-access interior panels where replacing batteries would be a nuisance.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
