Overview

The Vimar VM02690 is a ceiling-mounted infrared presence and motion detector that switches 220-240V AC lighting circuits automatically. It watches a 360° field and lets you set the ambient-light threshold from 3 to 2000 lux and the on-time from about 10 seconds to about 30 minutes.

It is rated IP20 for indoor use and draws about 0.5 W. Nominal detection range is up to 20 m at temperatures below 24°C, with a typical mounting height around 3.0 m for broad room coverage.

On board, it fits well for hands-free lighting in cabins, heads, companionways, and interior service spaces. It can switch common lamp types directly: up to 2000 W incandescent/halogen, 10-1000 W CFL, and up to 100 W LED.

Key features
  • 220-240V AC, 50/60 Hz supply for vessel AC systems
  • 360° infrared presence and motion sensing with two detection zones (small movements and entry detection)
  • Adjustable light level threshold from 3 to 2000 lux
  • Adjustable time delay from about 10 seconds to about 30 minutes
  • Nominal detection range up to 20 m (below 24°C)
  • Switching capacity: 2000 W incandescent/halogen, 10-1000 W CFL, 100 W LED
  • IP20 indoor rating; operating temperature from -20°C to +40°C
  • Thermoplastic body with a matte white finish (similar to RAL 9003)
Compatibility and fit

This is a mains-voltage device intended for 220-240V AC circuits, not 12V or 24V DC lighting. The unit measures 102.5 mm high with a 58.3 mm depth (built-in depth 58.3 mm), so it is worth confirming clearance above headliners or overhead panels at the planned mounting point.

Installation and setup

Ceiling placement matters more than most people expect on a moving boat. Mount it where it has a clear view of the area and away from vents or heat sources that can create rapid temperature changes in the sensor’s field. Set the lux threshold so the light only comes on when the space is actually dim, then set the time delay to match how the space is used.

Electrical and system integration

The detector switches the load directly, so keeping within the stated lamp ratings is important, especially with LED drivers and multiple fixtures on one circuit. For larger LED loads, using the detector to control a properly rated relay or contactor keeps the switching electronics out of the high-load path while preserving the same automation behavior.

Use cases on board

This sensor makes sense on boats with 230V-class AC lighting where you want lights to follow traffic through interior areas without relying on wall switches. Because it is IP20, it belongs in dry, protected spaces rather than exposed decks, cockpits, or anywhere that sees washdowns or direct spray.

Maintenance and care

Keep the lens clean so it can detect small movements consistently. A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth is usually enough, and it helps to avoid placing it where it will be coated with galley grease, engine-room mist, or heavy dust.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
