Overview

The Garmin 010-12798-02 is a bail mount with knobs that surface-mounts compatible GPSMAP 8x16 Series chartplotters so the screen can be tilted for a comfortable viewing angle at the helm.

It mounts to a flat surface using pilot holes drilled with a 3 mm (1/8 in.) bit, then the unit is secured in the bracket with the side knobs. This style of mount is a good fit when you want the display up on the dash, with easy access for tilting and cleaning.

Key features
  • Surface-mount bail bracket for GPSMAP 8x16 Series chartplotters
  • Tilting mount with side knobs to clamp the unit in place and set the viewing angle
  • Mounting process uses 3 mm (1/8 in.) pilot holes for the supplied fasteners
  • Includes the bracket and two bail-mount knobs for the chartplotter sides
  • Compatible with GPSMAP 8416, GPSMAP 8416xsv, GPSMAP 8616, and GPSMAP 8616xsv
Compatibility and fit

This bail mount is intended for the GPSMAP 8x16 Series units listed above. It is a surface-mount option, not a flush-mount kit, so plan for enough dash top space for the bracket footprint and enough clearance to tilt the display without hitting the windshield frame, grab rails, or throttle binnacle.

Before drilling, confirm your cable routing and bend radius behind the unit, especially if you are running network, power, or transducer leads through a tight helm pod.

Installation and setup

Use the bracket as a drill template to mark the pilot holes, then drill with a 3 mm (1/8 in.) bit. When fastening into fiberglass with screws, a countersink bit is recommended to clear only the top gel-coat layer so the gel coat is less likely to crack as the screws are tightened.

Secure the bracket to the mounting surface with the included washers and wood screws, install the bail-mount knobs on the sides of the chartplotter, set the unit into the bracket, and tighten the knobs.

Use on board

This mount makes sense for open helms, center consoles, and enclosed pilothouses where you want to tilt the display to reduce glare and keep the keypad and card access easy to reach. It is also handy on boats where different operators switch between sitting and standing positions at the helm.

Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
