Overview

The Vimar VM01401 is a DIN-rail supply unit that takes 120-230V AC (50/60 Hz) and outputs 29 V DC with up to 1280 mA available for bus and auxiliary loads.

It is used to power Vimar By-me Plus shared components where a stable 29 V DC bus supply is required, with a built-in decoupling coil to help keep the bus stable. On a boat, it typically lives inside the main AC electrical cabinet or a protected technical panel, fed from shore power or an inverter, and then supplies the automation bus and related modules.

This unit is intended for indoor-style installations: keep it away from drip paths, spray, and areas that trap heat. It needs panel space for 8 DIN modules (8 x 17.5 mm), so it is worth checking rail length and door clearance before committing to a location.

Installation and setup

Mount the unit on a TH35 DIN rail inside a ventilated enclosure with enough clearance around it for airflow. Avoid placing it directly above chargers, inverters, or other warm equipment where cabinet temperatures can climb.

On the AC side, plan for a readily accessible upstream bipolar circuit breaker with at least a 3 mm contact gap. An upstream surge protection device is commonly used to reduce transient stress on electronics when the boat is connected to shore power.

Electrical and system integration

This is an AC-input power supply, so it is not meant to run from a 12V or 24V DC house bank directly. Feed it from the boat's AC distribution (shore power or inverter output) and route the 29 V DC output only to the intended Vimar bus and auxiliary terminals.

The 29 V bus supply current is shared with auxiliary output current, with a combined maximum of 1280 mA. When planning the system, add up the current draw of all connected bus devices and auxiliaries so the supply is not run at the edge.

Compatibility and fit

This supply unit is used within Vimar By-me Plus installations and occupies 8 DIN module spaces. If multiple power supplies are used on the same line, the system limit is a maximum of two power units per line.

For marine installs, it is a good match when you are building a centralized, panel-mounted automation setup and want the power supply on the same DIN rail as the related bus modules, interfaces, and protections.

Maintenance and care

Periodically inspect the enclosure for moisture tracks, salt residue, and loose conductors, especially after heavy washdowns or long periods in humid climates. If the status indicators show overload or output overvoltage, disconnect power and verify wiring and connected loads before re-energizing.
