Overview
The Garmin 010-12883-00 is a chest-strap heart rate monitor that sends real-time heart rate over ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy to compatible devices and fitness equipment. It uses a user-replaceable CR2032 (3 V) battery and is rated for up to 3.5 years of use based on 1 hour per day.
For on-water training and everyday boating life, it handles sweat and spray with a 1 ATM water rating and operates from -5°C to 50°C. It does not transmit heart rate data while swimming, so it is best used for workouts, deck work, and topside activity rather than in-water sessions.
Key features
- Transmits heart rate data over ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy for use with compatible watches, phones, tablets, and fitness equipment
- 1 ATM water rating for sweat, rain, and incidental spray; does not transmit heart rate data while swimming
- User-replaceable CR2032 (3 V) battery with up to 3.5 years of life based on 1 hour/day
- Operating temperature range from -5°C to 50°C for training in cool mornings through hot cockpit conditions
- Pairs with devices within 3 m; some Garmin devices support very close-range pairing
- Snap-on module with a strap you can clean after use by removing the module first
Installation and setup
Wear the strap directly on your skin just below your sternum, snug enough that it stays put when you are moving around the boat. Wet the electrodes and contact patches on the inside of the strap before use, then snap the module onto the strap and keep the logos facing upright.
For pairing, bring your compatible device within 3 m of the strap and follow the device pairing menu for ANT+ sensors or Bluetooth accessories. Keeping some distance from other nearby wireless sensors during setup can help avoid pairing to the wrong device.
Compatibility and fit
This strap pairs with ANT+ compatible devices and can also connect over Bluetooth to a smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, or compatible fitness equipment. It is a personal sensor, so there is no boat wiring, network gateway, or 12V/24V connection involved.
Fit comes down to strap tension and placement. If the strap is too loose, heart rate readings can drop out when you are working the helm, grinding a winch, or doing interval training on deck. A snug fit and pre-wetted electrodes typically stabilize readings.
Maintenance and care
Salt and sweat buildup on the strap can reduce reading quality over time, so rinsing after each use is worth doing, especially after a salty day on the water. Remove the module before washing the strap, and avoid using a dryer; hanging it up or laying it flat helps the strap last.
Battery replacement is done from the back of the module using the supplied Torx T5 screwdriver. Remove the four screws, swap in a new CR2032 with the positive side facing up, keep the O-ring gasket in place, and reinstall the cover without overtightening.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
