Overview

The Garmin 010-02919-00 is a GPSMAP 1623 16-inch class chartplotter with a Full HD IPS touchscreen display (1920 x 1080) and a worldwide basemap. It runs on 10 to 32 Vdc systems, is rated IPX7 for incidental water exposure, and is built with a polycarbonate and die-cast aluminum housing.

This model is the non-sonar version, so it focuses on charting, navigation, and system control at the helm while pulling sonar, radar, and other data over the network when those modules are installed. It fits well on larger helms where you want a big screen you can read at a glance while running offshore, cruising long distances, or working tight channels and marinas.

Key features
  • 16-inch class IPS touchscreen with FHD resolution (1920 x 1080) for chart detail that stays sharp when you are standing or seated.
  • Power input from 10 to 32 Vdc for 12V and 24V systems, with an 8 A fast-acting fuse requirement.
  • IPX7 water rating and a housing made from polycarbonate plastic and die-cast aluminum for typical helm exposure to spray and washdowns.
  • Garmin Marine Network support for sharing data such as radar, sonar modules, charts, and video across compatible Garmin displays and sensors.
  • NMEA 2000 connectivity (LEN 2; 75 mA max draw) plus NMEA 0183 support with one transmit port and one receive port for bridging to radios, AIS, and legacy devices.
  • J1939 engine network connection support for compatible engine data integration.
  • HDMI video out for mirroring the display to a compatible monitor, plus composite video input (BNC) for supported camera sources.
  • Built-in 2.4 GHz wireless for app features and wireless device communication when configured at the helm.
Installation and setup

The GPSMAP 1623 supports bail mounting or flush mounting. The unit measures 384.7 x 266.4 x 78 mm (15 1/8 x 10 1/2 x 3 1/16 in.) and needs about 94 mm (3 3/4 in.) of clearance behind the chartplotter for connectors and cable routing, so it is worth checking the space behind your dash before cutting.

For clean installations, route power and network cabling so the connectors stay dry during assembly, then seal the dash cutout as needed for your boat. Unused connectors should remain covered with their weather caps to keep moisture off the contacts.

Compatibility and system integration

On a modern Garmin helm, this display can act as a hub for charting, radar, sonar black boxes, cameras, and shared data across the Garmin Marine Network. If you tie into NMEA 2000, make sure your backbone is properly powered and terminated, and remember the chartplotter still needs its own power connection. For NMEA 0183 installs, plan for shielded twisted-pair wiring on extended runs and keep grounds common between devices to avoid noise issues.

With HDMI out available on the 16x3 size, the chartplotter screen can be duplicated on a compatible external display for larger pilothouses or bridge setups. Composite video input can be used for supported camera feeds, and video sharing follows the Garmin Marine Network rather than NMEA 2000.

Charts, mapping, and sonar options

The included worldwide basemap is meant for general reference, and most owners add region-specific cartography via compatible Garmin chart products and premium chart options. Sonar views can be added by networking to compatible sonar hardware and transducers, including live sonar systems where supported, so the display can show the sonar picture without relying on built-in sonar electronics.

What’s included
  • GPSMAP 1623 chartplotter
  • Power cable
  • NMEA 2000 T-connector
  • NMEA 2000 drop cable
  • Flush mount kit with gasket
  • Protective cover
  • Trim piece snap covers
Maintenance and care

For long life in saltwater environments, keep the protective cover on when the boat is not in use, rinse the area around the display with fresh water after heavy spray days, and avoid trapping moisture behind the dash where connectors live. If you service the helm, re-seat weather caps on any unused ports and check that cable locking rings remain snug.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
