Overview

The Raymarine T70164 is an EV-DBW Evolution autopilot pack for boats with digital drive-by-wire steering, including Optimus and Yamaha Helm Master steering applications. Instead of using a separate hydraulic or mechanical drive unit, the EV-2 sensor core communicates with compatible electronic steering systems through CAN bus, which keeps the installation cleaner on vessels already fitted with modern digital steering.

This pack is built around Raymarine Evolution pilot technology, with a 9-axis sensor core that uses a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis digital compass, and 3-axis gyro to track vessel motion. The EV-2 runs on a 12 V DC supply with a 10.8 V DC to 15.6 V DC operating range, draws 30 mA, and carries an IPX6 waterproof rating for exposed marine locations.

The included p70Rs rotary control head gives powerboat operators a familiar knob-and-button interface for changing pilot modes, adjusting course, and managing the system from the helm. SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000 networking support integration with Raymarine instruments and multifunction displays, while the EV-2 CAN bus connection handles the steering-side communication.

Key features
  • EV-DBW autopilot pack for compatible boats with digital drive-by-wire steering systems.
  • Works with Optimus and Yamaha Helm Master steering applications when the vessel installation supports the required digital steering interface.
  • EV-2 sensor core communicates directly with the steering system through CAN bus, reducing the need for a separate actuator control unit in typical drive-by-wire installations.
  • SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000 networking support connection with compatible Raymarine instruments and chartplotters.
  • 9-axis sensing uses a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis digital compass, and 3-axis gyro for motion tracking.
  • 12 V DC system operation with a 10.8 V DC to 15.6 V DC operating range and 30 mA power consumption for the EV-2 sensor core.
  • p70Rs color rotary control head gives helm control with push buttons, a rotary dial, and wide viewing angles.
  • Supported pilot modes include Auto, Standby, Pattern, Track, Wind Vane, Power Steer, and Jog Steer.
  • IPX6 waterproof rating supports installation in demanding helm and below-deck environments where spray and moisture are part of normal use.
Installation and setup

This system is a strong fit for powerboats that already use electronic steering rather than conventional hydraulic steering. The EV-2 sensor core should be installed where it can sense vessel motion accurately, and the p70Rs control head should be mounted at the helm where it is easy to read and reach while underway.

The startup wizard helps with pilot configuration, and the EV-DBW architecture keeps setup focused on the digital steering and network connections rather than hydraulic pump sizing or mechanical drive selection. For Volvo IPS or other steering systems that require extra gateways or cables, those parts must be matched to the vessel before installation.

Compatibility and system integration

The T70164 pack is meant for drive-by-wire steering platforms, not traditional cable steering or standard hydraulic steering without the proper electronic steering interface. It is suited to boats where autopilot control needs to tie into a digital steering bus while still sharing navigation and instrument data over SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000.

For owners running coastal routes, offshore fishing trips, or longer passages where steady heading control reduces helm fatigue, this package brings the autopilot controls to the helm while letting the EV-2 handle the motion sensing and steering communication behind the scenes.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
