Overview

The Garmin 010-01284-00 is a Panoptix PS30 down-looking transducer that lets you watch fish, bait, and structure below the boat in real time. It operates at 417 kHz with up to 300 ft maximum range, and it supports 10 to 35 Vdc input with less than 0.8 A draw at 12 Vdc.

It gives you three views for different situations on the water: LiveVü Down for live movement under the hull, RealVü 3-D Down for a single sweep when you are sitting still, and RealVü 3-D Historical to build a 3D picture as you move. The result is a down view that is easier to interpret when you are tracking how fish react or when you are checking bottom changes and structure.

Key features
  • Down-looking Panoptix sonar with LiveVü Down, RealVü 3-D Down, and RealVü 3-D Historical viewing modes
  • 417 kHz operating frequency with up to 300 ft maximum range
  • Power input range of 10 to 35 Vdc with less than 0.8 A draw at 12 Vdc
  • Transom mounting option for common stern installations
  • Integrated 30 ft network cable and 15 ft power cable for flexible routing
  • Split ring RJ45 connector for the network connection
  • Software update microSD card with adapter included
Installation and setup

This is a transom-mount transducer, so placement matters. Mount it where the face stays in clean water at speed and is not getting aerated by strakes, steps, or the prop wash. Take time to set the angle so the transducer is square to the waterline and tightened down so it does not shift when the boat pounds.

When routing the cables, avoid pinch points, support the run so it does not chafe, and leave a service loop near the transom so the cables are not under tension. Seal any transom penetrations properly to keep water out of the core and backing structure.

Electrical and system integration

Power it from a 10 to 35 Vdc supply and keep the feed on a protected circuit sized for the wiring and the rest of the installation. Make connections in a dry location whenever possible and use proper marine-grade terminations so vibration does not loosen anything over time.

The transducer connects to the sonar network via the RJ45 connection, and the integrated network cable helps when your electronics are mounted forward in the console or inside a cabin. Plan the cable path before drilling or fastening so you are not forced into tight bends or sharp turns.

Use cases on board

This transducer fits well on fishing boats and bay boats where you want to watch targets under the boat while hovering on a spot, working a jig, or keeping an eye on bait and structure. The historical 3D view is useful when you are covering ground and want a clearer picture of what you just passed over from the bottom up through the water column.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the transducer after saltwater use and keep the face clean so growth does not soften the return. Inspect the mounting area and cable routing periodically, especially after trailering or rough runs, and make sure the connectors stay clean and protected from standing water.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
