Overview
The Perko 1604 is a fixed mount white all-round navigation light for power-driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in length. It uses a 12V incandescent bulb and is USCG 2 nautical mile certified, making it a practical choice for small powerboats that need a permanent 360 degree white light for running or anchor light requirements, depending on the vessel’s lighting layout.
The light has a black polymer top, a clear fluted lens, a frosted globe, and a fixed black polymer base. Its reduced-glare layout helps keep light from shining straight down toward the helm or deck while still giving the required all-round visibility.
Key features
- White all-round navigation light with 360 degree reduced-glare construction
- USCG 2 nautical mile certified for power-driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft.)
- 12V incandescent bulb included, rated at 9 watts and .69 amps
- Fixed mount black polymer base for permanent deck, cabin top, or hardtop installations
- Clear fluted lens with frosted globe for the white all-round light output
- 3/4 in. diameter anodized pole with a 1 in. x 2-5/8 in. base footprint
- Mounts with #8 screws for a straightforward replacement or new installation
Variants
This fixed mount all-round light is offered in two height configurations, so the same light style can be matched to the boat’s mounting point and visibility needs.
The pole height is the option that changes between variants. The 12V bulb, 9 watt rating, .69 amp draw, 3/4 in. anodized pole diameter, black polymer base, clear fluted lens, frosted globe, and #8 screw mounting remain consistent across these configurations.
- 1604DP0CHR: 7-1/8 in. height. The taller version raises the light farther above the mounting surface, which is useful where rails, canvas, cowls, or deck hardware sit near the light location.
- 1604DP1CHR: 3-1/8 in. height. The shorter version keeps the light closer to the mounting surface for a lower-profile fixed installation.
Installation and fit
This light is intended for fixed mounting, so it works best where a permanent all-round white light location is already planned or where an existing fixed light is being replaced. The base footprint is 1 in. x 2-5/8 in., and the installation uses #8 screws, so checking the mounting surface and wiring path before installation helps avoid extra drilling or exposed wiring.
Because this is a 12V incandescent navigation light, it should be wired into the boat’s 12V DC lighting circuit with appropriate circuit protection for the vessel. It is not a 24V light, and it should not be treated as an LED replacement unless the full electrical setup is being changed accordingly.
Use cases on board
This light fits small powerboats, center consoles, runabouts, skiffs, and similar vessels that need a fixed white all-round light with a simple 12V connection. It is a good match for owners replacing an older pole-style navigation light or adding a permanent light on a cabin top, hardtop, or raised deck position where the light can be seen around the boat.
