Overview
The Perko 0561 is a gas tank vent with a swivel 90 degree elbow for venting a marine fuel tank through the hull. It is made for 5/8 inch vent hose and fits hull thicknesses up to 1 inch, which makes it a practical replacement or new-install vent on many small boats, center consoles, cruisers, and utility vessels.
The unit pairs a chrome-plated zinc alloy cap with a zinc alloy elbow and a polymer splash guard. The elbow can be rotated to any position, so the vent hose can be routed cleanly behind the hull side instead of being forced into an awkward bend.
A removable 30 mesh stainless steel wire screen works as a flame arrestor for fuel applications. That detail matters on gasoline fuel systems, where the vent needs to breathe properly while still using hardware suited to the fuel environment.
Key features
- Accepts 5/8 inch fuel vent hose, a common hose size for marine gas tank vent lines.
- Fits installations through hull material up to 1 inch thick.
- Swivel 90 degree elbow can be rotated to any position for cleaner hose routing behind the mounting surface.
- Chrome-plated zinc alloy cap gives the exposed side a finished look on the hull.
- Zinc alloy elbow body handles the angled connection inside the boat.
- Polymer splash guard helps manage water exposure at the vent opening.
- Removable 30 mesh stainless steel wire screen functions as a flame arrestor for fuel use.
Variants
This Perko gas tank vent is offered in two configurations that share the same basic vent style, swivel elbow layout, 5/8 inch hose connection, and 1 inch maximum hull thickness.
The difference between the variants is the splash guard color. Both use a chrome finish at the exposed cap, so the choice mainly affects how the vent looks against the hull or trim around the fuel vent location.
- 0561DP4CHR: Chrome finish with black polymer splash guard. The black guard gives the vent a darker accent, often a natural fit near black rub rail, dark hull graphics, or black deck hardware.
- 0561DP4WHT: Chrome finish with white polymer splash guard. The white guard has a lighter look that blends well on white hulls or cleaner topside layouts.
Installation and fit
This vent is intended for a hull-side fuel tank vent line using 5/8 inch hose. The swivel elbow is useful when space is tight behind the mounting point, since the hose can leave the fitting in the direction that works best for the boat’s layout.
During installation, the vent hose should be routed so it rises and drains properly according to the vessel’s fuel system layout, with no low spots that can trap fuel or water. The 1 inch maximum hull thickness should be checked before installation, especially on cored hull sides or areas with interior liners.
Use on board
This is a good match for boat owners replacing a damaged or aging gas tank vent, as well as builders or refit projects that need a compact vent fitting with a 90 degree inside connection. It suits exposed hull locations where the outside cap needs a finished chrome appearance and the inside hose routing benefits from an adjustable elbow.
